That’s 54 weeks since I joined just a little over a year ago, and also just in time for me to move up to Advanced on Lead path.

Me: Do you want to accept the promotion? Also Me: Yes I will thank you

I figured it was time to give back a little to the Championship that has done so much for my playing. I know I’m not the only one for which it means even more than that. I think it’s really special what @Rodman has built here, as well as all the volunteers that make it possible, either charting or hosting… that’s over 12 years of Rocksmith 2014! I love this game and I love this community.

Now get ready for some Gen Z energy. Let’s rock!

First up, we have LDR’s “Kinda Outta Luck”. This is an unreleased track from 2010 during her “Born to Die” era. Femme fatale track that was one of the first songs I was able to play; great for beginners:

Techniques: Cowboy chord arpeggios, power chords, tremolo, octaves, palm mutes, double stops, speed.

Next is LDR and Barrie-James O'Neill’s “Summer Wine” cover. Originally performed by Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood, this song works well for practice of basic chord shapes, chord changes, and rhythm:

Techniques: Cowboy chords, barre chords.

Third, “Somewhere I Belong” by Linkin Park, the lead single from their “Meteora” album. Big thanks to @Unleashed2k for the chart, forums, updates (GOAT!). Like Nickelback, you might not like it but you can’t deny that this band has figured out the sauce (54 million monthly listeners on Spotify, nearly 3 billion plays on their top song “In The End”):

Techniques: Arpeggios, octaves, harmonics, power chords.

Fourth up, an unusual one for the Championship, “Pancake” by Natanael Cano and Peso Pluma. I’m excited to bring some latin spice into the mix since we are from all over the world here. Two key players in blending Mexican folk music with latin trap/reggaeton to make this newer genre, “corridos tumbados”, into international hits. Big thanks to @Alan24 for providing such a huge catalog for this genre!

Note from charter: “Main Lead guitar path requires a capo on the 5th fret but i also charted a slightly-simplified version that doesn't require a capo on Alt Lead. There is also both 4 and 5 string bass paths, everyone should be able to play it regardless of their setup.”

Techniques: String skipping, slides, frethand mutes, dynamic frethand positioning, melodic octaves, hammer-ons, pull-offs, harmonics.

Fifth, “Welcome Home” by Coheed and Cambria. Everyone who's anyone knew this song in 2010, epic riffs and solo imo (One of my favorite songs ever and like @cacahuate51 mentioned it was featured in the Rock Band 1 video game, my gateway to Rocksmith as it was for many others):

Sixth, “The Way You Make Me Feel” by Michael Jackson. Charted by one of the titans of Rocksmith, @Emmy-Dell. Probably best to spend a little time slowing sections down in Riff Repeater to practice the riff; it will make a big difference at full speed. Enjoy!

Glad to see some Linkin Park! They were the main band I went to see at the festival last week and the 22 years of wait for me was worth it :) was a bit scared cause I didnt really enjoy the texas live performance album whilegrowing up, but luckily the sound was phenomenal (up close)

Also Welcome Home is my favorite rockband song, so itll bring good memories. If I recall the chart is a bit old so itll be interesting to see/play it.

and most importantly grats on the promotion to Advanced Lead and your first week of being a host!!🥳 I knew you'd make it this year :P

Now the only one missing for the promotion will be you @Vodka ! we'll be waiting for you. But i understand if you want to chill and collect some wins before climbing up.

There's some fills that are missing in the bass. Still love the song

I probably underated it when testing, wasnt sure since its kinda like the army of me situation where its not that hard but the fact it repeats alot and is at the bottom frets can make it tiring to play. It mightve helped a lil bit if it were eb standard just so you dont have to be in fret 1 and just stay in 2 but its doable in e standard so i understand why they tabbed it there (since im also not a fan of downtuning to eb cause im lazzy).

Whoever charted this is a damn masochist. Absolute torture to play 😂 (highly suggest playing the Alt path if you have a 5 string bass/ B standard capabilities - playing it up at the 6th is a whole lot easier on the hands)

fwiw, I personally would of ranked this a little higher difficulty wise purely because of how much of an endurance test it is.

Haha, I'll try my best :D (Probably Monday.) I usually don't mind repetition very much, as long as it's predictable. And I've got a five string bass, so as @Emmy-Dell mentioned that should help :)

i think rhythm might be a bit too easy for intermediate? but i guess it depends how much of a dificulty spike the harmonics are...


glad i still have some of that muscle memore from rb days

solo in rhythm seemed harder to me


hmm says 98 but i honestly didnt feel like the rhythm was what was going on the song?
i enjoyed the lead path more

The html formatting didn’t work, I think it may be incompatible with the new forum upgrades (@Unleashed2k do you know?). I think the React app stopped working on Thursday for the same reason. I tried a few different ways to copy and paste that generated text over with no success,

1) copy paste into new post and publish (html formatting didn’t work, all visible in plain text)

2) with “ “ quotes around the whole text (just in case)

3) in a code box (didn’t know which one to pick and the ones I tried didn’t work)

Almost none of the google sheets scripts really worked for me due to permissions except for generating the post text and putting scores into the leaderboard by hand so everything was done manually. Since it’s my first time hosting, I have no frame of reference so waiting on someone to come to the rescue or tell me what I missed and I’ll update original post!

yeah, just checked... this sucks.. forum does not accept bbcode anymore. this will now cause some issues with generating a post text in sheets so it is properly displayed when pasted.

worst thing i have a strange feeling it won't accept passing the formatting from the "outside" which will make impossible adding text in existing format.

@Rodman any thoughts?

Fxxx yes! What a week!

Thx @drand - a great job you did surfing fast in troubled waters ..... Right the day the forum underwent major major updates THAT made a lot of our scripts STOP WORKING - ouch.... and right there @drand stood up, took that sword, climbed that hill by copy pasting tons of phrases manually, even updating the scores manually (brrr... shivers from the past here a lot) and killed the damn dragon providing us with a top notch selection!!! THX

Raoul and the Kings of Spain was one of the songs that I tried to chart and do a cdlc, first on 4 strings then 5 strings, but couldn't finish it. So when Hypercat charted it was great fun to try it (but still couldn't get it to 90 % 🫠 )

My first results:

Don't know if this is the right version as I have a couple of them (I used to tell them apart by the duration) They all seem to be Bb (one on A440 which doesn't get along with my 5 string bass 😄)

I didn't even try the 4 string version on lower frets as I can't keep up with this one 😅 That's how I know that I'm not in 7 level

I can't find my best attempt so far, so here is one that I found (hoping to get to 90% on this one...)

I just played a Michael Jackson song on Bass and it was pure agony. I can barely move my hand 😄

Linkin Park - Somewhere I Belong. How old I shoud be to call it "classic"?.. Fast jump to first strings in the Lead path might be a little tricky.

Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home. Hard. Too many solo in the Rhythm part.

Symphony X - Seven. Very hard and very fast.

Michael Jackson - The Way You Make Me Feel. My left hand stopped responding to me to the middle of the song.

Dream Theater - Bend the Clock. Impossible.

Natanael Cano - Pancake. I can't play with a capo at all. No regs. Bass is too hard.

Tears for Fears - Raoul and the Kings of Spain. No 5-♈bass.
