I have tried checking my audio settings in my control panel, uninstalling and reinstalling, not having the cable plugged in when starting, verified the game cache multiple times, and I removed custom DLC that may have affected the crash. I can't make it full screen because the game crashes right away.

 

Any suggestions??? 

remove D3DX9_42.dll from rocksmith 2014 folder (or rename temporary) reinstall dx9 june 2010 redist for your system and validate cache again then, remove\rename Rocksmith.ini(it'll generate new one automatically, you can also clear %tmp% folder and try launch RS again if all fine feel free to add dll and modify ini file

I did everything you said but Rocksmith still closes right when I launch it.

It would appear steam is still doing something based on the color of your status bar. Just a guess.

My status goes back to online right after it crashes. 

try launching RS directly instead of through steam menu. additionally, make sure you are not running excessive programs or resource intensive programs in the background (word, outlook,etc.), as these may have adverse results as well.

Rocksmith decided to start working again :/ Thank you all for the help!

If you have a NVidia graphics card, I had the same thing happen.   If you exit the GeForce Experience tool that checks for updated drivers, then start up Rocksmith, then it works ok.
