Hi all,

 

I'm working on a song that sounds to me like it has a tremolo (wammy) bar that dips lower in pitch, and then goes higher.  Is there a way to chart this in EoF?

 

I imagine I could use a bend to chart the higher pitches, but EoF doesn't allow negative bend strengths.

 

How would any of you in the CF community here chart this?

EOF doesn't allow it because RS doesn't have a way to display that.

 

Ubisoft simply put the note with no sustain in songs that have that specificity and leave to the player the choice to try to play it or not.

 

I'm not sure there's any "good" way to show it in RS. Slide-down would be confusing as hell, some talked about using bend with the actual display fret being the lowest point and playing around with bend but that would also be confusing compared to normally played note.

 

I think the best is just to do it the official way, just indicate the starting note and let people play around if they feel like it or if they have the guitart that allow it (whammy bar is an option and not everybody has one).

There is a workaround to mimicking "negative bend strengths" if you start with a pre-bend and release. Perhaps more cool to play that than to put a sustain hoping the player will clue in to your intention and receive needless comments that your custom chart is inaccurate... Just my opinion. I know when I chart I try to think, what is going to give someone goosebumps that (s)he's sounding like the real thing.

in "rain when i die" I slides(pull offs too) for pitches that in tuning range, but I used official one note thing for my PF - sorrow wip also note in vocals if pssible

@@Berneer I suggest to do it the same way officials DLC work, put the starting note with no sustain and let everyone choose wether or not they can/want to play it.

 

The big problem i have with using pre-bend and release is that there is no indication telling you that you should use the whammy bar on this one note and not and the other one with the same technique but where the whammy bar isn't used.

 

Overall, Rocksmith doesn't have any way to clearly notate this specific technique (the main reason being that not every guitar have a whammy bar) so using other clearly define technique for something else than what they are designed for in the first place can be confusing for any player and even more for beginner that doesn't know what a whammy bar will sound like. Those beginner will probably tried to play the technique display and won't think a minute that they had to used the whammy bar (that they might not have).

Yeah interesting debate. I agree it would feel obnoxious for a seasoned player to be forced to play a CDLC contrary to his preference to use a whammy bar. As I don't yet qualify as a seasoned guitarist I tend to just play what I see and a sustain note would feel bland to my ears so instead I confess my brain would be excited to see a long wiggly sustain note. But of course the goal is to be expert and not noob so I defer to @@firekorn's judgement especially if it is how official content does it.

In Knights of Cydonia, RS uses a vibrato tone, when in fact he's using a whammy bar. you can try that.  :D
