Warning! macOS 15.4 update breaks Rocksmith Remastered

For anybody running Rocksmith on a recent Mac. Be aware that recent update to latest macOS 15.4 breaks the Rocksmith.

Rocksmith will crash on start, and it seems currently no fix is available. Repair or reinstall is not helping. Considering it is out of support, and has been replaced with cut down no dlc Rocksmith Learn and Play just recently, this is potentially permanent situation and may lock you out of all your dlc cdlc forever on recent Macs.

Really bad, as the steams drops support on older macOS versions as well, so I just recently switched to newer Mac because the old one was dropped from Steam support.

Ugh, I also just updated my OS and ran into the same issue. Second time that I fall for this, lol. Waiting for solutions!

Were you able to get it working on the Mac version? Or is this with the porting kit?

It's going to be an issue with how the game is running. There's no other mod than using the DLL, and if the setup you're using to try to play it on Mac is crashing with the DLL built for both versions isn't working, then sorry you're out of luck.

I'd hazard to guess since the DLL modifies running memory of the game you're not going to find luck the way you're attempting due to some sort of underlying Mac/Wine weirdness

I remember an old fix for a significant amount of issues on Mac was using a hidden test version. Not sure if it's common knowledge but go into steam, properties and find the place where you can input a version code and type in

JustInCaseWeNeedIt

Unfortunately that fix alone didn't work for this issue but with the new .dll I'm willing to bet it does and will be trying it shortly.

I am betting that it doesn't as you need the .dll specific for the Beta, the new .dll is for the newest versions of Remastered and Learn and Play. The newest .dll does not support the Beta version.

If you read above you, you will see that ichocobo got it working in the porting emulator with a specific .dll already.

I've tried the True Tone cable, and it doesn't work as expected. It shows as an audio interface and detects input (note detection works), but no sound comes out.

As I've stated before, I always play disconnected, so this solution fulfills my needs. I guess that making the True Tone cable (or any audio interface) work involves tinkering with the RS_ASIO and wineASIO drivers. Sadly, tomorrow I'll be back at work and will not have time to try this approach.

Has anyone tried using the beta build found by using RockTheMacintosh In the same method as InCaseWeNeedIt ?

I'm on 15.5 b3 so it might work for 15.4 or 15.4.1 but not the 15.5 betas...

OR It might not change anything at all...

Nope, it doesn't launch

For the moment, I have RS2014 working on my (Intel) Mac using Parallels 20.  I'm using the RS cable (ick) and haven't set up CDLC support yet, but I can at least get my RS fix.  Surprisingly, the frame rate seems pretty good, using default Medium settings at 1440p (RX5700XT video card via TB3).  Of course, using the RS cable gives about 1/4s lag, which grates on my nerves, but hoping I can get my USB Audiobox supported on Windows like it is on Mac RS2014.

I notice that RS+ has a version for iOS, so I might try getting that on my iPad and mirroring it to my TV.  Hopefully with a USB-C hub I can get a proper audio interface and wired TV out (methinks airplay to my TV would induce too much lag, but I haven't tried).

Note, I also have an XB360 and PS3.  Jailbreaking the XB360 seemed over my head, but I haven't looked at what it would take to JB the PS3.  Might be worth it to try on the PS3, since it's just sitting on a shelf doing nothing. 🤷‍♂️

Same for me, but as I can't stop playing the game I have downgraded to previous OS version while waiting for a working solution.

I hope I will happen soon 😃

Updated to MacOS 15.5. Rocksmith still crashing.

But they started selling the game again, so may be they will allocate some ressources to make it run in recent MacOS as well.

As mentioned in the other thread, Learn and Play has been available for sale since December, and is not compatible with MacOS. You will not likely find any updates to the game

I opened a support ticket with Ubisoft directly on April 3rd. we had a couple messages back & forth with no real progress; last night  they asked me if I was still having issues with the game, to which I replied:

"unless an update was released in the last 3 weeks that resolves the issue with this game & macOS 15.4 which is affecting all users with this version of macOS, the game is still broken & crashes at launch with the same results as the attached crash logs indicate"

effing idiots...

I put in a ticket a few days ago with Ubisoft support and they responded this morning recommending I use the "RockTheMachintosh" code to access the rs_public_beta, but it didn't work obviously. They marked it as closed but I immediately followed up saying it didn't work and with video evidence. I understand they don't sell the Mac compatible version anymore, but I feel like in order for us to get an update fixing this we all need to submit tickets. I'm losing hope here.

Hola Leo,

I couldn't agree more. Instead of looking for workarounds, we should complain as legitimate customers.

Yeah, definitely. We have to keep complaining.

This is what they said when they closed my ticket "We are aware of this issue, and have noted that you're affected as well. This issue is being looked into, and we'll keep you updated as soon as we have any further information to share."

They're aware of it and they claim they're looking into it, but for all I know this could just be PR talk and they're just hoping Mac users forget about it. Idk, I'll try to be optimistic though.
