Please add an Api for search. It has been requested this years before and many of us would like to develop an own app for requests.

If it is possible, it would be nice, to have a kind of new and updated charts service to get info from the charts.

Just know any API won't have a direct link to the chart, just the collection link that redirects to the download.

Hi!

Can you maybe add a new feature to the reporting system discussion part, that we (reporter, charter plus the ones involved) get an notification in ignition + email if there is some new chat entry there?

After I report something, (luckily) in many cases I get some question back, but I do not get notified. So If I do not check the discussion, it could happen, that the report will be just closed, or the chart will be deleted.

I have a suggestion regarding the report system. It would be nice if only users with at least 10 uploaded CDLCs of their own could report, because that way they have an idea of how much work it takes to fix a particular bug.

Without any upload, we already know it’s a pain in the ass to create or fix a chart. To me, this feature makes no sense at all! How exactly would this new feature help our community?

On the other hand, one could argue that charts should be reviewed in advance by reliable musicians before being released for public use. That way, you wouldn’t need to fix them afterward because they’d already be fine. But that’s science fiction.

That’s why feedback currently happens through the “Report” tool, and the charter can discuss the problem either through the chat available on the report or directly on the record page. Nothing wrong with this. It could happen, that your chart gets a feedback. Also it may happen, that you do not have time to fix charts. Nothing is a must, anybody can wait. You can re upload later if you want a new version of the file.

 

Sorry, but it’s a -1 from me for this idea.

 

P.S.: I’ve already found some very minor issues in official DLCs too. Reporting those is impossible on Ignition 🙂

The problem is that the current reporting system does not support community development. I know of at least 3 people who have over 20 uploads but have stopped sharing publicly. They have since shared their work in smaller groups. That's because they simply don't have the time to fix the sometimes negligible errors flagged in the aggressive reports of critical players. There are many reports for several years of CDLC that would require almost the entire job to be done over again (which could take weeks). The song is otherwise playable, but the reporter doesn't like it because it's missing a few notes. The creator would rather spend his little free time on a new project, but if he doesn't log on to the site for 1 month, even more of his downloadable content will disappear from the site. It is not the creator who will be poorer, but the community who will not be able to download imperfect content (and his new projects) in the future.

Debatable for some of the issues that get reported. But if you've been in the Customs Forge discord you'll know that there's changes to the report/feedback system coming.

Limiting who can report is absolutely ridiculous, especially if it's a minimum of 10 uploads. 10 quality uploads is a lot

Already not true, but again if you're not in the discord then of course you won't know this kind of thing.

If it's something that doesn't meet the charting standards and the staff determines it needs to be hidden, then those "imperfect" charts don't deserve to be available

Content reported in January this year was deleted after 1 month. What do you think is not true in that sentence? Don't contradict a quote, but try to interpret it in context.

I don't care what the plan is that is being discussed on Discord. What I do care about is that for nearly ten years I've tried to bring together a small community of creators, tried to share knowledge and tasks to produce the highest quality content possible, and then some perfectionist players who have never made a CDLC come along criticize and report old content. As a result, many people have stopped making songs.

I chat with the people who are literally handling the reports and what is made available or not on the discord. You can claim whatever you want, but you are wrong. Plain and simple. I don't care what you've been trying to do or what you perceive as happening, you have the wrong opinion on this

All right, you can scrabble like a rooster in the garbage heap, and I won't share my newly made songs. And everyone is happy except the average user.

It's almost as if you don't have proper info and are being overly proud and indignant. If something is removed due to lack in quality as determined by reviews of the staff of the site, during the report/review process then the only people at a loss are those that want badly made charts. Here's also a direct quote showing that nothing is actually deleted, anyway. But sure, I'm in the wrong lol.

Ok, two things kinda related to eachother. Why on earth does it forbid someone to make a request for a song on the wishlist if ANY part has already been charted? There's a wishlist listing for the lead part of "Wah-Wah" by George Harrison, and it's labeled Completed, but it's not completed, only the bass has been charted, not the lead. The maker of the CDLC said they aren't going to make an update to add lead or rhythm, so why is the request that is for lead marked as completed?

Tal y como dice @Unleashed2k, ve a la esquina superior derecha de esta página, busca tu nombre, haz clic en él para que aparezca el menú desplegable y selecciona "Configuración de la cuenta". Así accederás a la página de configuración, donde deberás seleccionar "Seguridad y privacidad" en la lista de la izquierda.

Una vez allí, vuelve a introducir tu contraseña y, a continuación, selecciona "Eliminar cuenta".

So, I have a feature suggestion -- I am fairly confident it doesn't exist after searching a couple of times now.

Feature: My Collection Export

Simply: add a mass export option for 'My Collection'.

• It would return a JSON/XML/CSV/TXT list of the collection from the database with fully resolved URLs to the download links (NOT wrapper URLs, as the UI gives^).

• It's still on the user to determine how to go about downloading from the URLs once they have them.

Problem / User Story

I'll just walk through my problem here as a kind of user story...

• User has amassed a large collection (thousands) of songs in their collection over years.

• User loses their game directory, thus all of the downloaded songs from their collection.

• User goes to the Ignition4 website and quickly realizes, with the pagination and tediousness of clicking, this is a daunting task...

  • User looks for an API he can use to pull songs from their collection. No API exists.

  • Knowing that 99% of the links either resolve directly to the download or to one of five cloud providers, User figures they can create a program to handle downloading from these providers with "view" URLs...

  • ...User looks at the copied link -- it's an 'internal' URL that redirects to the actual link. With no API and no appetite for troubleshooting using a browser cookie, User rules out scripting any part of obtaining the links...

• Until User encounters an HTTP 429 in the first minute after opening a few links rapidly on the first page.

  • User slows down their clicking rate to a click per 3-5 seconds. This seems to more or less work to stop the nagging...

    • Until, after about 30-45 minutes, User hits 200 of 2000 songs in their collection and is locked out with HTTP 429 errors for going on 12 hours and cannot even view their collection.

With the current situation, I anticipate that rebuilding my collection through seemingly the only method made available will take literally over a week, that is assuming it doesn't have a "longer memory" and cuts me off sooner once I am allowed back.

• A user shouldn't effectively be locked out from re-obtaining their collection, nor should it be exceedingly onerous to accomplish.

  • The hurdle for the user should be third-party (i.e., handling the various links and services to get the files from the cloud provider).

• The server is handling orders of magnitude more web requests, database lookups, etc. in these instances than it otherwise should have to.

  • Given the aggressiveness of responding with HTTP 429, this behavior is clearly of some concern server-side, whether due to web traffic and/or compute.

I feel like the problem is a valid one and--outside looking in--I can't see why there couldn't or shouldn't be an export option? Or am I missing something entirely?

I feel like this request can kind of be lumped in with the API request made ~1.5 years ago as well; though it's almost certainly much easier to implement than a full user-facing API...

In any case -- this may be a niche problem of sorts -- but I think it would be beneficial for users and the website in the long run to do this as it would assuredly result in fewer web requests, lookups, etc. over time.

Doing a little afterthought poking around to make sure I didn't miss anything specifically, I am seeing this, now (emph. mine):

• Download links to CDLC are only allowed in the CDLC Database and Workshop area. If you need to link to a song, give a link to the record page

• No collections or torrents of CDLC. Folders to multiple CDLC (ex: Google Drive) are not tolerated here

• No unauthorized use of CustomsForge or Ignition for usage types such as bots/scrapers without approval from staff

• Multiple accounts are not allowed. You are allowed to have multiple accounts under the same household, as long as each account is for another user

  • This is to prevent unauthorized desktop apps, server load abuse, loss of donations, and other things such as community feedback

  • Unauthorized scrapers will be banned permanently as they use ignition for what it's not intended to be used for

  • If you would like to build a bot and have proper permission, please contact us before you attempt to test it or use it

I suppose I can see a few reasons for not wanting to give out bulk collections of links.

I'm sure I was on some level flagged as scraping hence the 429s, and I technically was but it was human and by hand -- promise . That said, hoping there is some middle ground to be had if the feature cannot be implemented as described above; there should be some way to accomplish this without being flagged as scraping or creating an unnecessary load on the servers.
