  • Tortex Sharp 1.14. Learned on them and still love them.

I've tried a fair few, and my fave is my pink Dunlop 0.71 , down to my last one though, had to order me some more.

I caught a Dunlop Jazz III from Alexi during a Children Of Bodom show, tried it out when I got home and have been using them ever sence. I still use my Dunlop Tortex 1.14mm when playing my bass and occasionally when I play a song that is mostly chords, but the Jazz III is just awesome.

Dunlop nylon 1mm for me . But after reading this thread might check out some others

A matchbook cover has always worked for me in a pinch . LOL

I had to do that at a gig once. Forgot the picks on the table at home ; ( it didn't work too well for me.

I used Tortex picks (.88) for years but switched to Jazz III's about 6 months ago. Mostly the red nylon but I've been buying the other types to try out as well.

Has anyone used Stylus Picks..? Was thinking about checking them out but can't imagine them being useful for playing chords.

I play bass, but have always used picks a lot. My favorite picks are the Everly Star Picks. The purple 1.14mm tortex is my go to.

The blue pick from them is by go-to pick. I have about 10 of them - and the black text is completely worn off of all of them, so I have no idea what gauge it actually is.

Dunlop Tortex .73mm. Not real sure why I settled on them but for some reason they feel right.

Dunlop Tortex purple (1.14 mm). I don't like floppy picks, they make me jump over strings for some reason.

Dunlops 1.5mm and got a set of 1.14mm but I still prefer the thicker pick for some reason.

i just have some no name .60 cat tongue

Dunlop Ultex Jazz III 2.0. Best pick I ever used. I also have lots of Dunlop Max Grip Jazz III on stock, love those too. I HATE light picks, I find them extremely unresponsive, the delay from when I move my wrist to when the pick finally produces sound is insane.

I make my own out of old gift cards with one of these.

I use yellow Dava sure grip nylon picks.   I've used all the other Dava picks lines including materials: delrin, metal, gel --->  used Dunlops nylons', classic and tortex. Planet waves picks, stone picksand even one of Rick Nielsen's picks from a concert waaaay back.

Nothing does it for me like a Dava. :-P That could be a good ad slogan.   copyright2014KasnitchInc.

About 10 years ago I tried out the blue Sharkfin (Landström Design), never played any other pick since then. :)

  • 1 month later...

I use Dunlop Nylon .46's for acoustic strumming.

When playing electric or bass i'll bump up to a 1mm or 1.1mm :)

I also use what Jaster has. (The pick punch) so if I run out I can use old butter container lids, or old giftcards to make some in a pinch. :)

Dunlop Gator Grips in .96, 1.14 and 1.5mm until I figure out my preference. Still newish to playing. They just stood out from the rest of the picks when I was trying different ones.
