Custom tones not working/loading in song I made

Featured Replies

I just generated a custom song I've been working on with the toolkit, and made sure to import the two guitar tones I made within RS2014, which had been specified in EOF and given simple, one-word titles (Lead and Fuzz).  When I loaded the song up, though, I found that my guitar suddenly had no tone at all and was almost impossible to hear, and at the points in the song where it was supposed to switch tones, it just said the song title with a dash on the top right portion of the screen, but not Lead or Fuzz afterward.  Is there a factor I'm not taking into account with tone creation and importing here, or is it some sort of bug?

If this helps, does it matter if I delete the Default tone in the toolkit, so long as I have a specified default tone in the EOF XML file?  And do I have to place an event for the default tone at the very beginning of the song, or is it automatic?

My guess is that you'll need to edit the tone type in the toolkit before you generate the package. Select the tone > edit > then choose the appropriate type from the drop-down menu. I think your auto-tone failure is a result of this not being done, or perhaps the "bass" type being selected by default. It doesn't matter if you delete the "default" tone that the toolkit creates, as long as all the arrangements are "told" to use the other ones that you've added.I've personally always designated a tone change at the very beginning of the chart (in EoF) and used this as the "default tone." Of course, you won't need to do this if only one tone is going to be used in your song.
