Just wondering if there is a way to disable the Auto Tone switching in RS2014? 

 

*As in, The tones never change unless I switch to one of my 4 "preset tones"? 
 

I understand that RS2014 is way more focused on the tones, and the switches then the previous Rocksmith.  ... Was still just curious if there's a way to do it.

i don't think there is but to be honest i don't see many interest in doing that (and as a charter it kinda bother me because people just throw part of the work i've done away by doing so but that's just a personnal feeling).

 

It's true that some tone can be horrible but then switching to any of the 3 preset tones will disable the auto switch during the song and you can then move on to the next one and see if the tone is good enough or not and switch if you want.

 

Keep in mind that even in official song, some bass part used an octaver to "simulate" the use of a 5 strings bass and other tricks that you might loose by getting rid of the tone switch and therefore miss element that i think matters when playing.

I should have stressed that I did not mean any disrespect to the charters that are putting in the extra hours to make a tone sound great and fall into place nicely!! As I'm constantly saving new tones in my presets that I'm discovering while playing new customs! ...  
(I also used to spend hours on the tone sections when making customs for RS1,) :)

*I realize that it's overall hit or complete miss with the sound levels of RS2014.. I've just been finding myself messing with the mixer and my volumes more than I am just playing lately.. All to just eventually, as you said,  Constantly be moving my hand off my guitar to switch the tone back one I know sounds good.

I know some people did a DIY USB pedal for switching tone that might avoid moving your hand :

Not sure how easy it is to realize or how inclined you are in those kind of things but at least you know it's possible :D

I already have a pedal and use a midi to keyboard converter for tone switches, its nicccee
Its taken me nearly a year, but I actually start to leave the default tones, cdlc charters have come a long way in tone creation on here.

But I would like that feature so there is no chance of a dead tone on a cdlc...thatd be great

I would also like to know about this. I'm going to work on it myself, To start with, you could edit the cdlc yourself with the toolkit, and replace the tones you don't like with the ones you do. I myself like using the same tone for everything. that is, only one rhythm, acoustic, lead, distortion, etc.
