Here's a bigger reply than previous one. With screenshots. Here's all about LEAD part.

1. You better use 02245x chord.

http://imgur.com/zCZYmUU

2. It must be D chord.

3. You missed some fills here.

http://imgur.com/CLk7LQa

4. I couldn't play these chords in original speed, so I've used RR. I don't know what chords is really there, but it doesn't look like Pete's style. Please, send GP file and I'll fix this and other mistakes.

5. Why slide? There were a lot of one-step bends on the 3rd string right before. I think here's the same thing.

6. Here should be just A chord xxx9 10 9 - it's a typical Pete's chord. I never seen THIS chord in any The Who's songs.

http://imgur.com/8yYbqbJ

7. I think it should be one-step bend too.

http://imgur.com/4BchMhT

8. It's very unusual thing for Pete - octaves like this. The only thing I have seen with chord like this - Pinball Wizard. I don't mind that he could use octave here, but I'm sure he didn't play that 5th fret on the 1st string. It's impossible to play with pick.

9. I think you should delete this part. There's no song, just fading. And the part before looks like completed phrase.

I could to try to make bass transcription for Love Reign O'er Me. I wanted to make this song by myself, but... okey, I'll take 5:15. How should I make a bass transcription - as .txt file, as eof file

The second part of review. Now about rhythm part.

1. I couldn't check every single note in arpeggios, so you better send me GP file. I'll check all parts tonight or tomorrow.

2. What the hell is this?!

3. You better replace it by usual D chord. It's very difficult to play this chord in that chords progression.

http://imgur.com/P87mvpX

4. I told you about that. You should use A5 chord like x022xx here.

http://imgur.com/DoCN5Ws

5. You better end the song after this section.

Good god... so much to respond to.

I honestly disagree with about 90% of those things. I mean that respectfully. I've found and fixed the "reverse D chord. I charted everything manually in EoF, so I must have lost concentration for a second. I also agree that I should end the song sooner. There's some notes still there when the song has already faded out.

Again, I can't provide you with a Guitar Pro file because I don't use GP to make any changes. You export the .psarc to a guitar pro file using the toolkit if you like. This custom song took several hours of work, adding one note at a time. Many of your questions can be answered by looking at the text tab here: http://www.thewho.net/whotabs/tablature/seaandsand.txt

The part you mentioned about a "missing fill" is actually two guitars playing different lead parts at the same time. When you listent to the multitracks, it sounds like the tape was cut and joined together as a method to overdub it. I could really only choose one part to include.

Some of those chords that you don't like are supposed to be played with your thumb on the low E string. There's hand positions included, so you can refer to them to see how they're played. They're not really all that unusual.

The rest of it I respectfully disagree with. I've listen to the isolated guitar parts so many times that I don't think I can be persuaded.

I haven't listened to guitar multitracks, so I believe you. Slides/bends was just my guess. I still can't explain how to play chord like this 5x7xx5.

Well, I won't fix mistakes if you think that you did a good job. Yes, you did. I made notes about some moments that I found a little bit wrong. If you're right I find this song very unusual for Pete's style.

Anyway, you can post it if you want.

That chord is played with your thumb on the low E string, your ring finger on the 7th fret of the D string, and your index finger on the high e string.

You scan also play it by barring your index finger across the 5th fret, while curling it slightly to mute the other strings.

@@GetTheLedOut - good job, just two notes about problems:
1. Here.

2. You forgot to end song sooner.

I hope I'll be able to make playthrought before I'll go to hospital, but I can't promise.

Crap. Maybe I somehow posted a different version than the one I tested. I know I fixed those things...

I'll take a look at it.

Okey, guys, 5:15 will be posted much later, because I'm still waiting for bass tabs. So I decided to start to transcribe 'Quadrophenia'.

@@JamesPrestonUK Do you have any bass parts worth sharing for Bellboy and I've had enough? Once I get through some troubleshooting/testing with the songs that are clogging up my pipeline I may want to take a look at these two.

Really no hurry - just wanted to see if you've got anything in progress. If you want to do both guitar and bass, then I can always work on some other Quadrophenia songs.

Btw, love your new avatar :D

@@GetTheLedOut - He started to work on bass part for both songs. I'll check them as soon as they will be ready. It could be great if you will start with "Drowned".

I'm so sorry that I didn't start to work on 'Quadrophenia' yet. I have a lot of job in my university now, so I have not much time to transcribe the songs. I'll try to work on lead and rhythm part, but it won't be quick release.

But I'm ready to help you with checking the tabs.

No worries. I have no idea when I'd start working on another Quadrophenia song. I'm just trying to plan ahead.

I can always start with Drowned when I get there. If James has one or both of the bass parts done, I can start with those. Either way works.

Okey. You'll better start with 'Bell Boy' - I'll make 'I've Had Enough' (I especially love this one)

I've had no luck finding a bass part or tab for I've Had Enough. I've got the guitar part for it from the Quadrophenia sheet music book if that's any help to anyone (and also for Bell Boy)

@@GetTheLedOut - I'll PM you a link to the Bell Boy bass tab

I chart BASS PARTS ONLY. Requests for guitar parts will be ignored. I hope that is clear.

I don't know if this project is still going on or not but if it continues I can defiantly help with transcribing bass parts. I don't make cdlcs but I can defiantly help with the transcriptions

  • 1 year later...

I have now finished and published the last missing track for Quadrophenia. These are the tracks I have done and made available since September/2021:
