The way I do it, and everybody plays a little different, is if the strings are close next to each other I'll strum them with one finger. If they're far apart (E and G string as an example) i'll pluck them with my thumb and pointer or middle finger. I only play finger style with all songs though and like I said everybody is different.

What helped me when first beginning was to play my favorite songs/artists. If you already know the tune its a lot easier to play along with. And like others have stated already its all just practice. Also, if you haven't already, go through the lessons in the main menu. They do help with understanding your instrument.

Idk if any of you guys replied on Imgur but if so, thank you. We determined I was right and its the BB-404. I'd say I got a pretty good deal for only 75$. Its in pretty good shape. Don't worry, I got the G string on her, she's singing very nicely now.
