Will The Songs On The Site Work With Rocksmith 1?

I've got Rocksmith 2014 for PS3 and I was going to use the real tone cable from that and get Rocksmith 1 on Steam since it was on sale and I wanted to know if the songs would only work on the 2014 version or the first one.

Those of us who have played both would all probably agree that it's a better idea to get RS2014 anyway.  It's also on sale right now ($36 versus the regular $60) so it's a good time to grab it.

Rocksmith 2014 has better features and new techniques and is more "learning oriented" than RS1.

On top of that, any official DLC released after Oct. 22, 2013 are only compatible with RS2014.  You'll be missing out on a lot of good DLC if you decide to stick with RS1.

On the last day of the steam sale, everything will go down to its lowest price which means RS2014 will be $15. So wait til then to get it.

I would get RS and RS 2014 along with the song transfer tool.  It opens up all the official DLC as well as the CLDC.

Just to clarify, for those that stumble upon this later, the above comment isn't entirely true.

Buying RS1 and the song transfer tool only gives you the RS1 on-disc songs (minus the Eric Clapton song and 1 other I can't remember).  It does not give you any of the DLC released for RS1 or RS2014.

However, because of some weird error with Steam, you must purchase and own RS1 in order to buy any RS1 DLC (anything released prior to Oct. 22, 2013) to use in RS2014.  I'm not sure why this is, but that's how it works.
