PDF → GP5: free, open-source tool to turn tab PDFs into Guitar Pro 5 files

I made a small app that converts tablature PDFs (text tabs, PDFs exported from Guitar Pro / MuseScore / TuxGuitar, or scanned tabs/screenshots via local OCR) into .gp5 files you can open in your usual charting tools. It reads tuning, tempo, time signature, rhythm, techniques (bends, slides, HO/PO, vibrato, palm mute…), repeats and lyrics (as a separate track).

It also has a practice player with a Rocksmith-style 3D highway, A–B loop that speeds up each pass, metronome and count-in.

  • Runs locally on your PC (Windows: double-click start.bat). Nothing is uploaded.

  • It does not connect to CustomsForge or Ignition.

  • The GP5 is a starting point: always check it, and follow the Charting Guidelines when making CDLC.

  • Only use tabs you have the rights to use.
