I recently switched laptops (the previous one worked flawlessly), and after installing RS, I have a TERRIBLE audio lag that makes it practically impossible to play comfortably.

I have external speakers connected to the headphone jack, just like last time, but unfortunately, this time there's a delay after hitting a string that ruins the experience.

Can anyone help me out? The YT tutorials turned out to be completely useless...

This happened with me too. Unfortunately i couldnt resolve it. So I now use the old laptop just for RS. Not ideal but at least I can play the game. So annoying. Please post if you do find a solution.

Ive heard maybe something to do with Realtek audio but i never got to bottom of it. Good luck mate

Hey mate, try this.
I have asked AI about your suggestion regardin Realtek audio and this is what it proposed.
It worked for me 🇦🇫

1. Disable Realtek Audio Enhancements Newer Realtek drivers often have equalizers, spatial audio, or noise suppression turned on by default.

• Go to: Windows Settings -> System -> Sound -> More sound settings (or the old Control Panel).

• In the Playback tab, right click your speakers/headphone output and select Properties.

• Under the Enhancements tab, check Disable all enhancements.

• In newer Realtek drivers, this setting might be under the Advanced tab labeled as Enable audio enhancements – uncheck this box.

2. Force 16-bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) Format Rocksmith 2014 strictly requires this exact sample rate. If Windows set it to 24-bit or 96000 Hz, the game will buffer the signal, creating latency or crackling noises.

• In the same speaker properties window, go to the Advanced tab.

• Set the Default Format to: 16-bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).

• Do the exact same thing in the Recording tab for your Real Tone Cable or microphone input.

3. Enable Exclusive Mode

• In the Advanced tab, make sure both options under Exclusive Mode are checked:

  • Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.

  • Give exclusive mode applications priority.

4. Edit the Rocksmith.ini File Go to the main game folder (where Rocksmith2014.exe is located) and open the Rocksmith.ini file using Notepad. Change the following values:

Ini, TOML

Win32UltraLowLatencyMode=1
LatencyBuffer=2
MaxOutputBufferSize=0

(If you hear audio crackling or distortion after setting LatencyBuffer=2, change it to 3 or 4, but for most modern laptops, a value of 2 eliminates lag without losing audio quality).

5. Disable Realtek Audio Console / Nahimic Apps Many new laptops come with background software like Nahimic, Waves MaxxAudio, or Realtek Audio Console. These apps run DSP processor overlays in the background, which can add up to 50–100 ms of latency. It is best to disable them via Task Manager while gaming.

Hi Sinner thanks for the response.

Firstly I am buzzin you got RS to stop the audio lag because I know how frustrating it is! Rock on!! Secondly I think I have previously tried all the solutions except option 5. Do you know which particular setting worked for you? If you did option 5 do you remember exactly what you disabled or did? I'd like to know before I waste another day or two ****ing about with my RS!
