Replacing game with disc version

I'll be as brief as possible.

Steam account not working can't access game rs14rm . Have bought disc version . Can I somehow transfer pc info to make CDLC work on the disk version and transfer my library of songs into new game ?

Please act as if you're talking to a 2 yr old because I know less than one about pcs .

Thanks

Help us help you, like we are 2 year olds, what OS disc are you referring to? I am assuming you are using a PC or mac and want to us the disc version of Mac or PC, and if that is the case;

The disc is without relevance. All the disc did was give you a key, a minimal setup to download and install Steam. PC/Mac disc does not run from the disc or function independently of a Steam account. Once Steam is installed you basically have a worthless disc now. You are still using a Steam account.

I suggest contacting Steam support or UBI support and get your Steam game functioning. If you are hell bent on just making a new Steam account, then the answer to your question is to copy the CDLC from your old Rocksmith2014 and put them in the new DLC folder of the New Steam account. download the cdlc enabler and run it, after deleting your old Steam from your PC. If you are using a Mac, follow the Mac instructions and patch it that way.

Make sure you back up all your CDLC before doing any of this. Also, remember DLC if any purchased is linked to your original account, not the new one.

If you are talking PS3, you will have to convert the CDLC to PS3 format.

I apologise I did simplify my message . I will try ubi support . Steam support has not been of help thus far as it's automated. I'll explain the situation a little more my girlfriend had the steam account . She sadly has passed on and I have suffered badly with anxiety since this . Learning/playing guitar helps me with this and I finally wanted to start up again . Only to find that I couldn't get into her account . Like a fool I hadn't saved passwords etc (so it's my fault) the game however is mine and not being able to use it has made me anxious . So out of desperation I've bought a pc/Mac disc version of the game . My ex had sorted out the way to download our favourite songs to learn . I am useless with PCs hence using the 2 year old analogy . So what I am really asking is . If I can't get any joy out of ubi support or steam support what do I do? I purchased a new game out of desperation in case I needed to get a new steam account and not be able to use the old game key on her account .

Hope that makes more sense

That does explain the situation much clearer.

First, condolences on your loss.

Ubisoft will probably be no help in this case and I doubt any help at all.

Before contacting Steam, Read this:

However, with Steam you may be able to prove it was your purchase if your card was used to make the purchase.

(I would not tell them either that you have already purchased a (new) Cd / key, and see if they let you recover the account and use it.)

I do not know what they will do in this case. Some tech companies are extremely strict. I would do your best to try to find the login information before contacting Steam. If Rocksmith recovery is your only goal and no other games that were on her account, weigh all of this before proceeding.

However, I do not work for either Steam nor Ubisoft, nor have I experience with this same exact situation. I am telling you up front, and trying to be as gentle as I can, being a girlfriend and not a spouse I do not know how they would handle this situation. I suspect it will be more than difficult to get the account turned over to your control. Technically, and generally Steam accounts are non-transferable even to a spouse. As the above article suggests they may even do something more drastic and delete the account.

Since you already bought a disc / key, if the key is new and valid, making your own Steam account would not be a bad thing.

Again, what I said before in the other post would still apply. Back up your CDLC that you have already downloaded, (or in the DLC folder). Making a new account should not affect any of that, as all you are doing is making a new account (Steam will probably update) and what you would be doing would only be making a new account, the program pathway would still be the same if you are using the same PC. You don't and didn't need Steam access to put CDLC into the DLC folder.

If you are using a new pc, copy the CDLC if you have access to the old pc and put them in the DLC folder on the new PC.
