Rocksmith+ Ubisoft Connect killed Rocksmith Remastered on Steam

I attempted to install Ubisoft Connect on the PC I had Rocksmith 2014 Remastered installed on. The result was Rocksmith+ wouldn't fully launch; it only displayed a large black square that never did anything further.

Far worse, Rocksmith 2014 Remastered, which I've been using on one computer or another for the last 12 years, now also refuses to fully launch. It launches the white screen that covers 2/3 of the desktop, but it doesn't enlarge to cover the whole screen and launch the game.

This is the situation whether I attempt to launch through the desktop RS icon or through Steam. I seem to remember a similar issue when RS+ first launched a couple of years ago, and I think I remember downloading a .dll from here that fixed it.

If anyone knows of a fix or has experienced anything similar, I could really use some help, and any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

I'm a compulsive daily player, and I'm going nuts without my Rocksmith fix!
