Hello! I’ve been playing RS 2014 since it came out. For the past few years I have been playing on a Mac laptop through Steam. I haven’t upgraded the OS on the laptop in years fearing that I would lose the ability to play. I’d like to buy a cheap PC that can run it, but don’t want to spend the money and find out it can’t.

Most PCs now run windows 11. Thus, any recommendation on a cheap PC I can buy to play the game on through Steam? Thank you in advance!

If you have Intel CPU you could install Windows 11 on your mac, even on external drive. I think it would be the cheapest way. You can download Windows from Microsoft and use Rufus to create install medium. Then install it on some external ssd and just choose on startup, which system you want to boot.

Regarding Mac updates, you need to avoid macOS 15.3.3 upwards, because 15.3.3 broke compatibility with RS. Tahoe fixed it and is compatible from 26.0 to the current 26.3. If your Mac is out of Apple update cycle you can use OpenCore to install newer macOS, the version to install is selectable. It might run well even on ancient hardware, there is a compatibility info on OpenCore Website. I was running RS on macOS 15.3.2 on mid-2012 MacBook Pro without any issues, only the operating system startup is quite slow.
