If i purchase a disc of the original RS, is it still possible to import the on disc songs from the og game to my RS2014 copy on steam using the import tool? there's a lot of songs i'd like to play from it but are no longer available.
Normally i'd assume i can, because it was once a feature, however i read that Ubisoft killed the plug on old keys and i'm not sure i wanna drop money on a disc that is essencially useless

In theory, yes. Everyone prior that has commented back on doing it in the past has said that it has worked. There is a huge caveat, it has to be an unused Disc Key. I have not seen this brought up in a while, so I can not guarantee that it does work. The discs are now going for $80USD and more. (And another $10 for the import tool)

Valid concern. There are no guarantees. And it is wise to be concerned. Do research, look around the web, ask on Discord.

It was digital download keys that they killed. It may have changed.

Thanks for the heads up, unfortunately I got late on the Rocksmith community and game so I basically feel like walking through a graveyard when it comes to obtaining some game content, before the learn and play edition I thought I was officially left out from playing altogether, fortunately now I can play just fine, but many of the songs I wanna play aren't available anymore, so I'm buying as many of the songs I want before they're delisted.

Still, I appreciate the information, I hope Ubisoft sees that people still supports the 2014 edition and renews some of the old licenses

Well, they do as they brought it back in the Learn and Play edition, so cdlc can still be used by those late to the game. They would rather people be clowns and pay for a subscription though.

True of a lot of things in life anymore. Limited editions, editions available to certain regions with just about everything (not just Rocksmith). It is now a part of life. It is a shame for people who were only 10, 11 years old when the game was released. It is just a part of life. Doesn't make it "right", just have to adapt to what it is and accept what you can not change.

What a lot of us are doing. And since they have brought Learn and Play to the store, some dlc has been offered during the sales, like over the weekend. Previously, when 2014 had delisted, nothing was offered on discount.

Here is a list Riff Repeater put together of all the DLC and the release dates to know when to get before they expire:

hey i know its been quite a while, but the thread is already open, do you happen to know if i'd have problems if i try activating a RS2014 key since i have the learn and play edition? i'd like to get the songs from the original release but i heard it may conflict with L&P edition, so i was wondering if there's some sort of workaround

Back when Learn and Play was released, I put it on a different account, not my original Steam account, so I can not answer this with 100% certainty. However, it should work fine. The game itself is the same game, just what licenses are available to your account.
