Rocksmith 2014 remastered -vs- M-audio black box

Before I shell out for a real tone cable has anyone, and when I say anyone I probably mean some middle age bloke like me given the age this bit of kit, used an m-audio blackbox to interface with Rocksmith? And if so… how?
