RS2014 crashing after profile selection every time

Featured Replies

On Windows 11. Issue started after installing Windows Update 24H2. Prior to 24H2, RS 2014 was running fine through 3rd Gen Scarlett 4i4

Some steps taken:

1) Updated CFSM and ran CDLC fixes. Issue continued

2) Removed CDLC folder, issue continued.

3) Removed RS2014 using Steam and redownloaded. Issue continues

Your expert advice will be welcome

I had this same issue after installing 24H2.

Right now the only solution I found that worked was to uninstall the Feature Update.

Just in case someone doesn't know how to uninstall a feature update:

Settings -> Windows Update -> Advanced options -> Recovery -> Go back

After doing that RS2014 loads as it used to.

Hope that helps!

Thanks @ Dj0rk , the confirmation and steps to remove definitely helps. Removing the 2024H2 update got RS back in business. I'll have to keep an eye on future windows updates. Thank you!

The issue atleast for me was caused by my cpu having to many cores. Setting the cpu affinity of the application to 16 or lower fixed it for me.

@ ATXRyZe Assuming that you are using Learn and Play edition due to the age of your new account, First we need to know if you are using the new Learn and Play edition, or reinstalling Remastered edition. If you are using the Learn and Play edition this will not matter as the .dll has not been updated yet. Nothing you do until the .dll is updated will it work.

Previous version of the .dll limited the core usage.

To answer your question though, affinity is set through the task manager, selecting the process you want. Details tab, right click the process/program, set affinity in the list. Us caution when setting core values. This should only matter if you are using a cpu with a high core count like i9 13900 processors.
