How do I set up my Scarlett 2i2 to work on MAC on Direct Mode?

Featured Replies

So acquired the Scarlett 2i2 which has multiple channels. When I select Direct Mode in Options I just get a huge feedback from my speakers. And when I select a song I cannot tune my guitar since it doesn't detect it. Does anyone know how can I make it work? When I select Direct Mode my Scarlett does appear to select but I only get that horrible loud feedback.

Good Afternoon,

I'm no expert I'm just going of the experiences I've had with Rocksmith so far.

You should be able to get tuning with the Direct Mode on the MAC as I use it myself sometimes, you won't hear your guitar playing but tuning will work.

I got horrible feedback yesterday whilst playing first time it's happened on my Macbook M1 but try a different USB port?

Also if you have an older MAC device IE 2019 Macbook or an old iMac try and use Bootcamp, Rocksmith works so much better on PC than it does on the Macbook

I know I'm opening an old topic but some guys sent me this and I'm using a Scarlet 2i2 now aswell thanks to the lovely people who discovered this. No need for a tone cable and it works as if you are using a tone cable.

Thanks for writing. Should I select Direct Mode in game? or Real Tone Cable? Because I'm not able to make it work either way.

If I select "Real Tone Cable" on the Direct Mode devices it warns me that I have 2 Real Tone Cables detected so it doesn't let me play. I can't tune the strings either.

Oh it should work on the Real Tone cable option.

This is my set up. The game doesn't detect my guitar signal for some reason. I select Direct Mode then in there I select Real Tone Cable. Then it warns me that if I select that device it will automatically turn into Real Tone Cable mode. So I accept. I go to the guitar tuning screen and it doesn't detect my signal. I try to calibrate it and again. Nothing.

Use the Real Tone Cable option, not direct mode, it will just work now.
