Is it possible (or even appropriate) to edit current CDLC?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I notice a lot of songs that are bass only. I sometimes wonder if I could take that psarc file and edit it, just adding a lead and rhythm line to the bass? If someone has gone to the trouble of setting up the file with tempo etc etc, adding other lines would be easier than starting from scratch (especially as I am not experienced with EOF). I would of course ask the author first if they were ok with me doing so, and not simply adjust files without author permission.

Is this easy enough?

Often it's more of a hassle working around what has already been done than just redoing it yourself, especially if you need to make any beatmap adjustments since they don't import too well from xml files and have a bunch of extra anchors compared to loading a proper eof file. There's also no permission issues since you've done it all yourself too.

Psarc files are pretty reversible using all the standard cdlc making tools though and you can edit them if you want to. Just import the file in dlc builder with the "remove DD levels", "generate eof project" and "convert to .ogg" import settings and it'll give you an eof file you can open and modify.

Thank you, CR

I take your advice about it sometimes being messier fixing up a CDLC than starting from scratch. Sounds like words of experience there.

But interesting to know its possible. I think I want to play around with some files, learn the process better and then I'll start trying to make my own from the start.

Appreciate your response.
