crappy sound when going low

So, I have Squier JB Vintage md 70s 4 string. When Im playing stuff with drop tunning normally dropB sometimes D Its a bitch to tune. With the drop D stuff I get a failed hits on certain frets near the nut.

 

Would anyone recommend a string change?
