Audio of RSRem on new PC/monitor is garbled/static

Got a brand spanking new computer and monitor.  RS remastered audio coming through the monitor speakers is garbled with static.  Even the opening audio during the launch is garbled. 

I can play music through the monitor speakers with no problem, nice and clear.  Any idea why RS wouldn't be working in this case.
