Updated a CDLC, I don't want to be a dick

I just updated a CDLC with lyrics but I don't want to just upload it as if it is my work but the author doesn't accept messages.  What should I do?  Should i create a new page and give credit to the original author?

    You can post it with credit to the original. As long as you did try to contact him and make it clear what part of his work you used, we have no issue with it.
