I went to download the Death Cab for Cutie song and Dropbox says "This item was deleted." Then I went to the bottom of the comments and a poster shared a current link.

ooooh...Sabaton!  That should be interesting!

This Wofmother track is more challenging than last week's Shinigawa Satellite intermediate track, for me anywho (perhaps because the lyrics aren't as inspired?). I should be able to get into the mid 90s though with some more effort. Another good week though, I like literally every one of these lead songs.

A good example, first run on Arcitic Monkeys track I scored 89 (first run on Wolfmother I hit 76%). Let me know if I'm the only one :)

What kind of guitar you got coming coldrampage? I just picked up a Pod Go effects modulator. It does a lot of cool stuff, I just have to learn how to use it!

Got one of these commin'. Wanted a 6 string with 24 frets and not another boring strat style thing, the shorter scale length and humbuckers are a nice bonus too.

 

Pod Go? looks pretty fancy, seems a a bit fiddly tho, good luck mate.

I don't think rhythm is harder than lead.

Great you like the week. That Wolfmother and AM tracks are in my library for over 5 years and just a blast to listen to, and even more to play, just perfect to get better on guitar (and bass).

For the sightread (initial) scores - well on the beginners side of our contest that scores and subjective difficulty impression of a song highly depends on the background of the player: When you come from having learned to strum easy songs with open/powerchords the impression will vastly differ from if you have started guitar on single-note based melody tracks. And those 2 songs are fine examples though based on objective criteria Wolfmother is the clearly easier song. You get only like 3 different parts, mainly Powerchords with no quick fretshifting more than one handposition away, and if i recall it right only top 3 strings are used the whole song. A perfect (3) - if you master it (99%+) you move up to Int.

On the other hand - the AM song - a lot more going on here, far more different sections, a lot of quite single-note patterns, powerchords with quicker shifting, open chords, a solo-like section and a quite hard to perfectly hit ending; overall still a great easier song, harder to master over the week, a (4).

 

Maybe you could try to tackle them both that week and let us see your progress over the week.

1) As there was noone on the schedule for selection for that week i had to quickly step in and, from my latest work on the XP-Level data collection i know our long ago played weeks well and i decided to use the above again for that week (week 51 minus Interpol, which became ODLC, plus week 47s Wolfmother). On testplay i really did struggle whether to eliminate Soul meets Body but ended with no. Surely a strange chart, not wrong for my ears though. Surely also it would be more obvious to play that 10s on G as 15s on D, but as i need pinkie and streching practice anyway i just do as on screen. Plus it forces to use a Capo for Rhy, which is rare in the CS and quite cool.

I must say i´m really glad that the whole album thing made it to the CS - thx to @@Nacholede. I have been playing The Great war and the Unicorn Situation in Dundee quite often.

Love the Arctic Monkeys track played this loads before, but Death cab for cutie doesn’t seem to have a Rhythm part on my computer for some reason.

@@Nacholede is there any way we can get the lyrics on the Sabaton album?  I was really looking forward to the history lesson, but I can't make out the lyrics and play at the same time :)  I'd be happy to help, but I don't know where to start.
