July 26, 201412 yr Something else you may want to look into, is taking an online course from a university. I am taking "Fundamentals of Music Theory" from the University of Edinburgh. Its not guitar centric (as a proper theory class should be). and its free. Quoting from the website: This course, from the University of Edinburgh's Reid School of Music (recently ranked first in the UK), is suitable for those who have never studied music academically. It will introduce you to the theory of Western music, providing you with the skills needed to read and write Western music notation, as well as to understand, analyse, and listen informedly. the link to the course is at https://www.coursera.org/course/musictheory
