I Cant hold those stretchy chords for more than a few seconds.  So i just ignored them and played it all like single notes while shifting around the fretboard.  It was easier, but it sounded wrong.

 

It shouldn't sound wrong, all of the notes are palm muted, so there really shouldn't be any ringing. Playing with my own amp's clean tone using my neck pickup made it sound pretty authentic. At least in my mind. :)

 

I'm also only playing the root note of F#, A and B with index finger before playing rest of the chord from the position of their fifth. With the F# minor, I play the third from 7th fret of D string instead of 2nd fret of G string. For the major chords A and B I'm hitting the third with index finger from the 6th and 8th fret of G string. Although, I'm wanting to stretch my pinky to hit the notes from D string instead.

Oh it's not my ruling. Different length means different amount of notes, which means 95 % in one version just isn't comparable with the other version.

 

If it was up to me, we would be playing the full version instead of the short one, but since there is a rule which states selected song must be under 10 minutes for all except GoG class. :) Interestingly enough, the 10+ minute rule originates from week 122, which is when they had this exact song selection (with the exception of intermediate rhythm)!

I found a detune pedal at a good price, so had to try it out over lunch.  Luckily we have a D standard song this week :)

 

Made some good progress on my class song too.

More detune pedal "testing" :)

 

 

And I made it through Every Breath You Take in SA!  That was my goal for the week.  After working on it a ton, I think this is a 6.  The pattern is easy, but the finger strength is something that comes with more advanced play.
