UPLEVELING NEWS:

@@Bounours levels up to INT BASS as well as

@@genobadass and

@@meelo level up to MC BASS

all for beating the 99.5 on their classes top difficulty

(unless they beg to stay down)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Thank you, but I feel like that 99.5+ on bat country was the biggest fluke of human history. I'd like to stay in advanced bass for now. Unless I hit another 99+ %, if possible :)

I don't understand how to play the first phase in this song (although my score is pretty high). Am I supposed to silence the open string strums in that E0+A14 / E0+A16->14 section or let them sustain? Or are they along with the A-string notes marked as single notes for the sake of clarity?

I like to play and let ring all E0's. It seems that playing it for real (for an audience, I mean) you should play the E0 before the A-string slide a little harder than the others (actually the others would be ghost notes maybe), but in RS you are risking a miss doing this way. I am afraid I don't fully understand your second question, but I try to answer: all notes here are distinct notes, as every note missed (all the E0 notes and all the A-strings notes) count as 1 miss.

I meant am I supposed to release my fretting finger on A string as I play the note on E string, and then release fretting finger on E string as I play A string. But as I understand it from the songsterr tabs (although it's tabbed differently), I shouldn't release either of the strings unless I do the 16->14 slide, or move to 9th fret. Hopefully I managed to explain myself better this time. :P

Now it's clear to me. And yes, I would let the notes ring unless I move my hand elsewhere.

@@meelo what is your opinion on both version ? Usually, Songsterr versions are pretty accurate, no ?

I honestly am not sure about which one is correct :(

Short answer is new for lead and bass, old one for rhytm. And songsterr has very different tabbing than either of these versions.

Long answer:

The "original" lead version is missing one G# note (sixth fret on D string) in its main riff. You can clearly hear the note being played in the backing track, but it's not there in the tabs. The newer version includes this note, so at least that part is more accurate on the new one. The intro is

Rhytm track is easier in the original, and sounds like it's more accurate as the E string is only played periodically. According to my ear, it's the E3/E5 double stop from the lead track that's being played between the A string notes. The new version strums E5 and F#5 (with octave) and the old one plays E5 and G# (without octave). I honestly can't tell which one is correct. According to songsterr, it's supposed to be G# with octave.

Bass is suprisingly clearly more accurate in the new version than the old one.

I didn't have an opinion about which version was better, so I decided to try and practice my ability to listen the song to hear what's happening. It was a fun practice to do! I am not experienced with this, so take my words with some caution :) But in conclusion I'd have to say the new track is more accurate than the old one, with the exception of rhytm track.

Again, mistakes in the bends, most of them in the second half. With some more practice I will probably try MM.

yH6S4zh.jpg

For those asking about my version of Sex on Fire (the newer one), I initially made it because I found the sync on the original's rhythm part to be very off, likely because the first note of the song starts at the very end of a measure. I imagine the person who made it wasn't sure what to do with it.

I tend to work from other people's GP5 files, while also looking at tabs, but mostly going by ear. It's actually nice to get all this feedback from you guys. If you have any other specific complaints about my version I'd like to hear them. Not sure when I'll get around to revisiting this one but I want to in time.

@@CJCW no worries, I know you charters all work dead hard on these and when there are multiple paths being talked about I imagine it can feel like a bit of a downer when we are critical. Very much appreciating all you do :)

Ok, because of poor results and overall lack of skill @NoonyDeloony gets downgraded to Advanced. She would be forever remembered as shameful person... and then she'll make another charming video and we'll forget about that.

I may be reading the class rankings wrong, but I'd had 2 or 3 97%+ over the last few weeks and don't see them reflected in the spreadsheet. Doesn't really affect anything, was just curious how the process of deciding skill level worked.

@@ZeroPingNZ did you notice the accuracy on mine? It's tight! And btw, you are playing the wrong version of Sex on fire. It was changed. This is the right one: http://customsforge.com/index.php/page/customsforge_rs_2014_cdlc.html/_/pc-enabled-rs-2014-cdlc/sex-on-fire-r36603

And for the heck of it.
http://u.meelo.org/.rocksmith/week254/week254rhytm_old202.png

After actually playing this version, the initial part sounds more like the backing track, but the power chords don't seem to sound right at all. Maybe it's just the tone settings.

Oh and I had to try the master class bass. Started grinding the sections in riff repeater, but memorising the position changes is a tall order. Sounds fun though!
