The pitch shifter mod for drop tunnings is not working as intended on the latest beta release, for example, when trying to apply it to a song on Drop C, it over-corrects and uses a whole step over what would be a Drop D equivalent.

 

In the tone editor, it's represented with the multipitch pre pedal, as of now for the Drop C example it applies a -4,00 correction, however I'm pretty sure the correct tone would be if it used -2,00.

 

The same seems to happen for Drop C#, instead of using the -3,00 that it's applying, wouldn't the right tone be achieved by using -1,00?.

 

Haven't tested with other tunings, but you may want to take a look at them.

The way you suggest is I believe how PitchShifter is intended work.  My guess is that you may have a couple of songs with bad tunings where for Drop D String0 is set to -4 for an arrangement when it should be set to -2.

 

Seems like the pitch shift for for Drop C# should be -3 because String0 it is set to -3, unless I'm missing something.

 

You can check the tuning by Importing the CDLC into the toolkit and then using the Tuning Editor.  Make sure you are using the latest beta toolkit revision.

 

I have asked @@Lovroman if he can shed more light on this for us.

@@cozy1 Drop tuning usually means that only the lowest strings is lower from standard (aka drop D is -2 0 0 0 0 0) so if you want to go from drop C to drop D you have to go up by 1 full step (-4 -2 -2 -2 -2 -2 to -2 -0 -0 -0 -0 -0) and not 2 full step which would bring you to 0 2 2 2 2 2.

 

You can't play around with tuning just by looking at the first strings especially since it's one that tend to move around a lot more than the others. For a pitch shift to be efficient you need to look at the step different on all string and find the most interesting option to have as many strings as possible that should have "0" on the tuning value or as close to 0 as possible.

 

For exemple open A tuning which would be 0 0 -2 -3 -2 0 should not actualy be pitch shifted cause you'll never have more than 3 strings to 0 while an open B (-5 -4 -3 -2 0 -2) can actually be shifted by 1 full step up to have more 0 and less important variation from 0.

Yup, as @@firekorn said since it is checking agaisnt the lower string, Drop C gets treated like C Standard, and gets 2 steps of correction applied, but since we're using a drop tunning the end result would be Drop E, not the desired Drop D equivalent.

 

Edit: Correction, I put that backwards, by applying the 2 steps you would go from Drop D to Drop B.

 

Anyways, it gets kind of confussing to explain, so the best thing I can do is tell you to try and use the pitch shifter on a drop tunned song, test it ingame, and see why it's not working properly.
