Welcome Vinterchaos!  Glad to have more in the beginner brackets.  Great start!

 

 

Thanks for the advice!  I read through the tutorial, doesn't seem too difficult.  I'm probably still going to have it done at a music shop, because I also want someone to take a look at my bass, give it a 'tune up' if there is such a thing.  I bought my bass from a large chain music store, so I want to be sure that it was set up properly, it seems like the strings may be too high, but I don't know.  That's why I want to take it to someone who does know, so they can fix anything that needs to be fixed.  

 

I'll likely do it myself when I restring in the future, but knowing me, if there is a way to screw it up, I'll probably find it.   :)

 

 

There is such a thing as a "tune up", yeah, but it is even easy to do this yourself (instructions on the same web page I posted earlier).  But having said that, it's not a bad thing to have it done at a shop the first time - at least then you've got some sort of set-up to copy!  If you can speak to the technician at all, ask them to tell you what they've done to it.  It's a good way to learn. :)

This is exactly the kind of song I can just practice over and over again. Never goes too fast and no big jumps on the fretboard. I Riff Repeated the whole thing on 80% like 12 times in a row last night, today it just stuck :D

@@mackaybre Congrats on that 100% in Varmlandsvisan!  I've played it probably 50+ times now, and every single time I miss either 1 or 2 notes!  I have it all down except this part:

I FINALLY got my 100%!!  Figured I'd try shifting my whole hand down for the pinky to middle finger toggle (so index & ring finger), and nailed it!

Grats!  Yeah that's how I play it. I suppose it's better form to stick to the box from 7-10, but my pinky isn't the same since I dislocated it playing soccer.

Hello, first timer here.

 

I discovered Customsforge at the beginning of this year and only lurked in the championship thread until now.

This week has some nice songs, so I thought I'll try my hand. As a beginner I started with the beginner song:

That went rather smoothly so I tried a tougher one. Turned out to be silghtly above my level. Did not know Ghost before, but the song sure grew on me.
