I know most basic chords and now I need to work on Barre chords. From what I have been reading, this is where most people give up on guitar. The problem is when you increase difficulty in songs the chords go by too fast and if you slow it down in riff repeater it doesn't sound like your playing a song anymore. I have tried the You lesson exercises, they are great but it would be nice to play Barre chords in a song at a nice easy pace. Any song suggestions?

"Like a Stone" by Audioslave has a nice slow Barre section and then a strumming acoustic barre section which is faster and more difficult. 

 

"Someone like Me" (Ryhthm path) by Kings of Leon has almost all (maybe all)  Barre Chords.

 

Check those out on youtube and see if they work for you. If I think of any more I'll come back and post them. I find barre chord changes easier than open chord changes - go figure. Make sure your guitar is set up properly, that will help with barre chords and everything else too.

One that I remember that might be helpful is the rhythm path to "For The Love of God" by Steve Vai. It's pretty much all slow arpeggiations of barre chords, so can be great practice for making sure you can make every note ring with the one hand position, though you have to police yourself and not cheat by just fretting each note individually as they come. And when using riff repeater it can be made quite slow, so learning from it should be quite doable.

 

It's official, though, if that's a problem.
