My first ever 100%. Bass on this song is fairly easy just 3 or 4 notes.

The lead section does seem fast for beginner I'm struggling to get a decent score.

I guess the chart is not perfect, but neither is my playing... Gonna keep at it and see what I can do...

I am blaming cold hands for the dismal performances, just in from work so I'm not in the zone just yet for practice I just wanted to give them a try before I chill out for a bit. Barry White should be 100%able, I did find it easy for an MC song just the cold hands were not helping my fingering technique. I'll spend more time on it later.

@ Yeah, I'm playing the newest version... Don't get me wrong it sure is way better than the last one, but I seem to have some major difficulties hitting some notes... It might just be me sucking at chords tho...

Now that i have spent some time RRing the beginner song i don't find it that hard anymore, but its still damn fast.

At the moment I can play it somewhere between 85 & 90% speed.  In fact I can do a complete run through at 85% with just a couple of missed notes.  If I try at 90% though I miss huge numbers.  I just can't keep up with the single note part.

 

It is a fun song though, so I just need to suck it up and keep practising.  Hopefully by the end of the week  :)

I've just downloaded Stray Cat Strut v3 (thanks frippy).  I'll see if that helps or hurts my score and report back.

Stray Cat Strut v3 bass after a couple of passes in RR at 90% speed = 97%

 

It has been totally re tabbed to play up the strings on fretted notes more and use open strings less.  It will take some work to re-learn it, but i don't mind. Just curious though - Which fingering would be better on a fretless instrument?  This was originally recorded on an upright.  I can see where there are fixed notes and there is a whole section at the end that had been omitted - the original charter seems to have left and gone to to the pub instead of finishing the last ten seconds of the song.

 

I always played the song with swing eights and never had any lates or misses.  However I listened to my bass playing more than to the original.
