I've played guitar a tiny bit but im still pretty sucky.. should I participate in the championships or just jam a bit by myself before heading in?

Short answer: Yes.

 

Long answer: Hell yes.

 

Longer answer: The championships are meant to help everyone push each other to develop our skills and get us out of our comfort zones.

Awesome thanks for the reply ! I decided though I will master at least 1 song before entering :P to save myself grief. Oh and another question what are the exercises on the champion ship page?? are they better then guitarcade for practice? Or should I focus on learn a song more?

I haven't done any of the exercises yet, but I would assume judging by the name and description that it targets specific techniques found in particular styles of music.  In the case of this week, blues.

The CS is the exact place you wanna be to proceed quickly.

The competition will force you to have quite a number of plays on tracks you otherwise would have never played.

 

You don´t have to master a song before joining - come over and try to master the beginners song there.
