this is rather wrist achey and spaghetti fingery. Hoping to get the pace up so fingers crossed... well that's if I can still cross them after mangling them all up after practice  :blink:

It's a fine line between pushing yourself to learn something new and giving up in disgust because it's way outta your league. Playing guitar should be enjoyable......the last two weeks have been nothing but frustrating for me so i'm packing up my bat and ball and focusing on some more Clutch this week.

I'm not a metal fan, at all, but I played through a few times to make sure I got a score this week. :)

 

My comment: I really dislike these types of songs, not because they are metal--though it helps--but because I find that the game doesn't fit the style well. The triplets (is that what they are called?) are very hard to do, and I know I'm doing it wrong, but the game does not penalize me because it can't tell that I'm doing it wrong. Plus, my arm hurts after... :)

@@MonstaS4 the intermediate songs? 6 is hard for int, but maybe it's harder, the rating often depends on the skills of who added the song, and often it's underrated. I'll play this tomorrow to astimate it.

Flipside on bass is a fun track.  I'm at 99% and chasing my tail on the random flubs.

 

Hotel California will take more work to get back to where I was when we played it the first time.  I'm at 94% but I'll target over 98%

 

And I'm waiting for the chance to play my latest creation on a challenge song. It's a four string cigar box guitar with a dog bowl resonator.  It's usually tuned to GDGB.  My guitar skills have suffered greatly over that last year that I've only played bass.  I'll have to get back on it and learn finger picking while I'm at it.  (I haven't taunted the Freebird Police in too long.  They probably miss me.)

That's a gorgeous cigar box guitar @@2groggy, love the dog bowl idea :) will we get to see it in action?

I found an issue on Moloko bass where the last 4 notes were 2 frets too low. Corrected! Also I fine tuned the guitar sustains and added a few notes there. Moloko v1.1

I finally got the sound working on BandiCam, so I can make gameplay recordings that aren't silent movies..  The webcam frame, however, was coming out waaaay too dark.  I have a busy few days ahead of me so I'll see if I can get something posted by the end of the week.

In my nightmares I see how I browse RSCS forum thread, look at MC Lead and it is G-std tuning... I wanted to take a few hours today to convert that D-std Gloryhammer to dropD (as I've done some time ago with Sigh - Corpsecry), but new song is C-std!!

@@TrbInTrbIn don't worry, we don't have 2 low tunings in a row (on lead, that is :) ) Hotel California is in E :)

Ok, I don't have the necessary strings for the bass. Last week I didn't do the advanced track because I preferred the master track. So that's two weeks in a row that I won't submit an entry for bass. What happens?

@@lduperval Nothing happens. Well, in theory after 3 missed weeks you can decide to level down by one. But then your pride would be hurt, so I don't think you want to do it :)

So no props for doing MC instead of AC? Hrmph. I'm sure my pride would've loved that!

I'm pretty sure LAS is a bit better at note recognition than SA?

I'm making progress!    \o/  Yay!

 

 I can actually play Muse!  I've have wanted to learn this song for yonks and it's great fun :)  I reckon I can get a decent score before the week's out. Considering yesterday I thought playing it at 85% speed was pretty fast, I am now finding 100% speed bearable ... just need to go see the GM about that extra stamina to avoid the kisses of doom at 73% way through the song.

Adv Rhythm: small improvement, personally I think this is harder than the MC song.

MC Lead: kind of a meaningless score from a sight read of the lead part, just putting it up as a baseline to measure my progress for the week. I think if I can hit 97% I'd be happy.

We're going hard on Intermediate class these last couple weeks. The verse in this is bloody difficult to strum properly, and there are some weird chords in the chorus! I absolutely love this song though - I might make a video if I can ever get that verse sounding decent...

Had a better take at New Born on bass. Getting close to the 100%.

http://i.imgur.com/voSoXoo.jpgI feel like we pretty consistently underrate the difficulty of songs with lots of jazz chords. Doesn't anyone remember Pool? Hard to compare the difficulty of these types of songs with more riff and solo based songs. I'd say these generally feel more attainable than the latter, though a week is often not enough practice time to get them entirely.

 

Also have some note detection issues on the harmonic runs and the run of chords with the explicit mute in them at the end of the third verse (second with guitar, I think), though maybe I'm misreading those chords.

I've managed to get a few quick plays in to avoid posting a late score again.  Some work to do to improve though.
