-= Building a Guitar from Scratch with Absolutely No Woodworking Experience =-

100 weeks ago, on Smithy's Anvil, Organizers of Rocksmith 2012 Championship decided to move on to Rocksmith 2014. Few months later, when Anvil died, they moved to CustomForge. Unfortunately, @@Kaijin was forced to make a break, and he left the Championship in hands of @@Joey. But with each coming week @@Joey had less time, so he asked participants for a help. @ answered the call to help him with Organizing the Championship, and to be honest, if he didn't, I would. So I was really happy that he took the job and gave me few more weeks of normal participating. Cause finally @@Joey had to step down, and I knew that it is my time. Last but not least was @@Rodman, with his idea of Rankings (honestly, I didn't liked that idea :lol: , but it turned out quite funny ) and he joined us in the battle of better tomorrow (or something like that). Well, nostalgia no more..

Pink Floyd is one of the most important rock band's in history, so we just had to have them here. In one of their best songs, with David Gilmour's best solo, and of the best in music - Comfotably Numb!

Kill'Em'All was an album that defined Thrash Metal (and you're really fortunate having all three Organizers being Thrash Metalheads :lol: ). Coming from this album is one of Metallica's biggest hits - Seek and Destroy - the perfect example of tru Thrash!

I know Helloween from the 80s..... one of those Metalbands I listened ages ago  :D

in Germany they weren't unknown this times.

They've done some pretty damn good stuff since Keeper... The problem was the immediate follow up to their first three (awesome) albums was (I wish I were making this up) "Pink Bubbles Go Ape". And I guess the one after that was pretty weird, too.

I have Helloween vinyl (Keeper of the Seven Keys part 1), dad bought it back then :)

Hahaha... just went to my CD-shelf to make sure... thats been a while ... vinyl and spotify seem to do the job nowadays...

 

however.. they made 3 fabulous albums (jericho and keeper 1&2) at start, then there where the a lot worse pink bubbles and chameleon when they were about to let the band die, then it got really good with master of the rings which i consider their best album... but in 1998 they did "better than raw" with a drastic change to more progressive metal - which drove away me and a lot of other fans... big success in japan ;)

They might have gone back to power metal ... i don´t know the new stuff; the old is great.

Are they known outside europe?

Still working on the Pink Floyd solo. One of the greatest solos ever written so I'm putting a lot of time into doing it some sort of justice :)

i'll add a score for stairway to heaven later, haven't been able to get to 80% for now, following the arpeggio is quite confusing for me :P The funny thing is that i know the song by heart, and without rocksmith i can play it much more precisely than on the game. although we all know this happens on rocksmith, but i always find it interesting how for some reason playing the same song with the rocksmith sheet and on normal tabs seems to occupy different portions of the brain :D

Well, it seems I deranked to intermediate lead, so here we go:

Anyways, I love Comfortably Numb, imo one of the best solos of all time. Clean part was a bit too quiet, but tone was great.

Good classic thrash. One of the first songs I ever learned on guitar (without solos of course :D). I really forgot how tough for picking hand can Metallica be :D But actually it was easier to do than Comfortably Numb. I like that the guy who made this song for Rocksmith did different parts without Lead guitar, rhythm and bass (i hope that doing these paths is available in the tournament). Tone wasn't really good, and in some places in bass path tabs were a bit off.
