Quoting you just because you're the most recent one, but why are so many people hating on this? Is it just because it hurts your hands?

 

While it's not the most varied bassline, it's a pretty challenging groove, and a big part of being a bassist is being able to lock in to a groove and keep it for a long time. I'm not saying that's what the bass should be doing in every song, but it's definitely not something I shy away from. Moreover, for me it beats the hell out of root eighths that are so prevalent in rock songs and I don't remember ever seeing nearly so many complaints about. And that riff at the end is awesome. So what gives?

Hurts my hands? Nope, I didn't say that nor did I say that I didn't like the song. It's just a boring bass line in my opinion. :) I play plenty of bass lines that are similar to this so I'm not shying away from the "technique". I'll happily listen to the song, it's just about 3 minutes too long to be tolerable and yes the riff at the end is awesome.

 

I can sort of compare this to my aversion to buttons. I might like an item of clothing which is embellished with buttons but my very mild phobia of buttons often puts me off wearing it and if I do wear it, I might just feel a little bit unpleasant and anxious or sick. I like this song, but the buttons or "repetitive notes" in this case, make me feel a bit unpleasant.

I love Matt Barlow's Iced Earth era and this had an easy groove and was fun to play. Also love LP and most of their songs are beginner but this song was a little unexpected that needed a few tries for me at the end to get >90%. Good songs this week!
