Beginner:  Linkin Park - Shadow of the Day

I still can't believe that they share the 1st letter with Led Zeppelin :wacko:
Intermediate: Iced Earth - Watching Over Me

Not that hard as I would assume. Lead is pretty nice to play, quite varied.
Advanced: Iron Maiden - When The Wild Wind Blows

And that's not as hard as I would assume. Only solo being difficult. It's maybe long, but on the contrary to Eyes of the Stranger, it's not boring ;)

Masterclass: Billy Cobham - Stratus

Bass is quite fun, at least before outro, which is more difficult then the rest.

Iced Earth, yeah!

An elderly couple, preparing for the nuclear war they keep hearing on tv, relive their entire memories, their first moments, their times of trouble, the husband being sent off to war, the wife believing he died. The apologies, the reunion, only to come back and see them dead together. Thats the story i see every time I listen to When the Wild Wind Blows, its based off of some comic book, but I think the story is beautiful.

This song will be the theme of my Fallout 4 character in November

Okay first scores and reviews

 

Lead Difficulty 7: Okay look I already feel the hate coming so hear me out. When I give difficulty, I look for how impossible the song is, with 9 and 10 being impossible. This song is pretty frickin hard with the first half being a bend fest, and even if you are a master of bends, good frickin luck getting them to register, because its a ton. The winner on lead this week will be the best at tricking Rocksmith into thinking bends are good.

 

Tab 8: I feel like some of the E.Piano stuff wasn't right, some where an octave too high, some chords werent right. but I do like this a lot, and i think it should stay, only reason i'm giving this 8 because it isnt 100% perfect.

 

Tone(s) 8: Other than a few switching late/early, I really liked the sound of these tones.

Rhythm(Okay first off, add about 10 on that playthrough, I wish this was a sight read).

 

Difficulty 8.5: its long, theres one solo thats pretty tough, with one of those sections 12-15 with 14 on the string lower I still cant hit/figure out. The second half can be tricky(assuming you dont cheat and transpose it to the 7).

 

Tab 8?: I'm trying to listen to three different guitars and judge what I'm playing is good, seriously?

Tone 7: Leads are missing that kind of crunch, feels very tinsy, the clean tone makes up for it though. It would be a 5 if it werent for that.

Whats a bass?

Solo on rhythm always bumps up the difficulty, bacause rhythmists are not used to solos.

 

MasterClass is the widest class we have (when we're speaking about difficulty). There is a place for Through the Fire and Flames and Stratus. You have to understand that when it's too difficult for Advanced it's MC, not the otherway.

Ok, I have nothing to do so I post my scores. I, as you know, always play all songs on all paths. Not always it's worth of a screen, so not always I'm taking it. And then I'm quite lazy, so I end up posting only relevant scores. But I have nothing to do right now :lol: :

Advanced Lead - 96%, 442 streak

It's only solo. And in matter of fact, I probably hit only few notes in the solo :D

 

MasterClass Rhythm - 94%, 132 streak

It's a little bit more difficult (this part with A string-less open G chords was giving me troubles) then lead.

 

Advanced Bass - 98%, 718 streak

I had only 2 misses before outro :wacko:

 

Intermediate Bass - 100%, 480 streak

Quite nice, not difficult but also not boring.

My studying starts from the Monday, so I have this coulple of days to submit some scores. The first: I've started with Iron Maiden, were playing it and wondering why it is Rhythm?? there were melodies and so on, than a solo in the end... Appeared I forget to switch to Rhythm :P

Then I switched and played Rhythm a bit and it sounds really cool for me. That the song from the series I like, but a bit too long for me. Will leave it in my collection after this week. And it seems the solo is the only thing that allowed this song be in MC, I haven't tried to learn it (I even still haven't heard the song without me playing...), but the overall difficulty for this seems on level with Adv Lead of Week 93 (was Iron Maiden too).

And about MC Lead, I really like how my guitar sounds on my almost clean presets and the song is kinda relaxing and funky. I agree with @@then3verend there is nothing impossible in it (like the tapping section in Sylosis previous week), but I am not a fun of bends, cuz you may notice I like to train songs a lot by playing many times and doing such amounts of bends more than 5-6 times is dangerous for my fingers.

@@Mortalo I'm not complaining about the song being too easy, I think it deserves to be on MC while also being a 7 if that makes sense.

I do want something difficult soon though, these easy songs have made my playing weak.

@@then3verend if you play them right the bends and their recognition in RS should be no problem, doesn't need to trick.

If a song is impossible it should be disqualified for the CC, anything would be fatal wrong. So the DL for this is 9, because the bends and some tricky and fast parts in the solo, 7 would be Advanced and this is definitely too hard for this class.

This song took a few months to tab it out (with a longer rest in between) like usually by ear and the difficulty was the assignment of the instruments. Originally there is only one guitar and e-piano, bass and drums of course, and I mixed both guitarparts  of guitar and e-piano to keep it interesting. If you think this one part is one octave too high in lead path just try the rhythm path, there you will find the other octave, originally played by piano, but later in the song this part repeats and there you hear the guitar playing it with the piano, but one octave higher!

The chords are all fine I think and tone changes are always slight before the first note with that sound is played.

@ I've been working on bends for about 3 months now, Floyd Rose bends are no bueno still on the recognition. It's fine on my epiphone, but I don't like that to tune that to E Std of I can help it.

 

I thought the tabbing was neat, I like it, I'm just being picky . No hate plz :(

 

EDIT I think impossible more as a difficulty, if it's actually impossible then yeah I agree. Its why you'll never see Chaotrope for mc lead.

More just how hard is it really? Would you agree that Muffin Man is harder than this? Or are they the same difficulty?

That and while I've been streaming, I've been given some REALLY hard songs, like 11-12-15 difficulty. All of which are played on a real guitar but idk how.

My guitar is fixed, is working fine and better yet, is calibrated and with new strings :D

The repair costed me some money, but finally i can play again! 

So here we go, first, When The Wild Wind Blows:

A masterpiece, i really love this song, the tones, the sync and the tab are cool for me, i will give them an 8

If the CDLC had all the solos in the lead arrangement, i think this one would be a 9 or 10 of difficulty, but only has one solo so i also give it an 8

Tones: 9, they are pretty good! 

Sync: Everything seemed perfect, so it's a 9 too

Tab: Also seemed fine, no recognition issues, absolutely nothing! 8

I'd never heard any of these songs before so I ran through each once or twice on bass..

 

Beginner - 100% on the first run through

 

Intermediate - 99.7% by the second run through.  I'm sure that I had a few more late notes than the score indicates, but the seem to have been forgiven.

 

On Stratus, it seemed busy enough to try it at 80% speed in RR. It was far too forgiving of obvious mistakes.  Until I got to the crazy bit at the end, I showed as having 6 missed, when it felt like I deserved 60 or more.  How is the note recognition on bass at regular speed?

 

I'll probably work on the When the Wind Blows song for this week because I'll probably learn the most from it, with the arpegios and all.

@Nacho - YESSSSS! That is great to read, man!

@@then3verend Obviously Stratus is far easier then, let's say, Instrumedley by Dream Theater, but as you pointed it's MC, so it's 9 on difficulty. 9 and 10 are quite wide, because this songs needs MC level of skills.

Oh man not only did I hate missing Kickstart My Heart due to home renovations and now on top of renovations I replaced my  goalkeeper in a super dramatic soccer game beating our nemesis this week but got a 200lb guy stepping on my power chord ring fretting finger directly with his cleat and cannot even bend my finger so cannot play......

Seem to be having some issues with downloading anything from dropbox, which is weird as DB is usually pretty reliable for me so just 2 play's of the beginner and int at the moment. Will see if I can sort out the issues with IM and Billy.
