Getting started with Cross Eyed Mary on bass - after half an hour in RR at 80% speed, I scored 95% at full speed

I put another half hour of work into Cross-Eyed Mary and am up to 97.3%

I decided that it was time for a change and tried Grounds for Divorce and realized that I heard that exact song on the radio last night.  Randy Bachman of BTO has a Friday night show on CBC and highlighted this song.  I'd never heard it before that.  So it must be karma - I must work on this song this week.  So far, I got up to 96.5% bass. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=496591513.  I'll have to dust off a guitar and try it on lead.

Edit - I must confess that I did attempt to play the lead part on the bass, but couldn't get the bends right.  Please don't tell the FreeBird police.

wtf @@then3verend , 98%?  how did you do that this fast hahaha

kinda puts me down with my low score. well anyway

Headbanger Lead

Theres some weird chord fingering choice going on here

For example:

Weird Chord

This ist just plain weird and nobody should play it like that.

Why not the E on G-String 9th fret and A B-String 10th fret?

100 times easier.

Same thing on the Rhythm path, plus theres a weird Bb-Chord without the Root there.

Headbanger Rhythm

cheers!

@@Latsch Push-ups, sit-ups, and plenty of juice...

Every week that I dont get a lot of competition I work on things that my technique really needs(scales, bends, chords, hand positions, etc.) That and I have been playing fairly difficult songs requested on my streams, just so people can continue to go "Holy f***ing s**t you are awesome."

Headobong falls right into my lap with what I know and what I can do(Its scale grinding, there's no sweeps, no bends, no taps, just fast playing), so I'm giving it an 8 on difficulty. I've seen what a 9 and 10 are in MC, and let me say, its like Muffin Man, but better.

My song requests are going to get harder

Many nice scores on all songs :)

Adv. Rhythm

Both of these should be very possible to hit 100% on if I had more time, but I'm going to be away from Thursday morning to Sunday evening, so it's a short week and I need to get on and play my own classes.

Tomorrow I'll give the Sigh lead a go.

And I am posting what I have mentioned above: download link.

It is a Sigh -- Corpsecry done with DropDd tunning (-2 0 0 0 0 -2). Why e-string is also putted down? Cuz it is easy to play a part with much of this string open in the beginning of the solo. And why I've made it: I don't want to tune down much, managed to get only 2 strings, at first were trying to make it DropD but that solo part... Tab were get simply by transposing all notes on middle strings two frets up, when impossible (open, first fret) notes were moved to the next string (only 4 such notes as I remember) + additionaly there were some places where distance to reach note on bass D string were too high (lower frets are wider) so I moved them to A string.

And of course my score:

Can someone make a play-through video of Grounds for Divorce on Lead?  So far, only @@fiddlesticks has posted a score (nice 100% BTW).  But I can't get anything about this song right at any speed.  In stead of doing the same wrong things, I'd like a glimpse of the right things.

Ditto above. Heard some other Babymetal songs but not this one. Unlike Sigh, I actually gave it a listen on Youtube first to get my head in the game, so that's probably why I scored higher than Advanced first go.

Well, I'm back from the city and recovered. Fun times and good eats were had.

First of all, it's really cool to have one of my customs selected. Thanks @@MaZtoR for selecting it!

I think by the time I made this one I was pretty good at making customs, so hopefully there's not anything too terrible in there. The likeliest issues are probably:

-Lead is missing a small part played over the last ~20 seconds of the song. I remember looking around for it in other tabs at the time but couldn't find anything - there might be something in live videos or guitar covers, but I'm not sure. If anyone could transcribe it that would be great, but it's also pretty hard to do as it isn't really high in the mix and there's lots of other stuff going on at that time.

-Tones probably aren't perfect fits. I think I just took early Sabbath tones and made minimal (not sure if anything beyond volume) changes. Any suggestions for other bass tones or improvements to the current ones will be appreciated!

-There might be some places where notes could be shifted around on the fretboard to make things more playable. It's also possible there are incorrect notes in places, or where better techniques can be used in the solo. If you spot any of those, let me know where in the song it happens and I'll fix it!

-I think the sync should be pretty good, but it's always possible there are places where it could be tighter. If there are any places you suspect the sync could be improved, let me know and I'll check them out.

-A guitar playthrough video would also be cool. While I don't mind having my bass playthroughs up on most of my songs, it probably makes more sense to have guitar playthroughs up.

Thanks, and I hope you guys enjoy playing the song! I might also do "A Sunset Song" from the same album eventually, but I think I remember being dissatisfied with the bass tab in the GP file when I started on it.

Second, I didn't realize tuning to D standard was such a problem, but based on @@then3verend and @@TrbInTrbIn (those are "i"s, I guess? Figured they were ell's until I tried to mention you!), it seems I was wrong. I'm especially impressed by the latter's efforts in converting the song to a different tuning!

I'm a little busy through tomorrow, but after that I should have more time for playing and updating. Will probably go for 100%-ing both the Tull and Sigh songs, and maybe doing master mode runthroughs of both (though both will be probably be pretty tricky for that).
