Hi Guys,

I've an annoying problem that I was hoping someone could help with. I now play Rocksmith 2014 on a Mac having upgraded from Xbox 360 so I could use CDLC. It's great.

The problem is I love Space Oddity and had it on Xbox. I then buy RS2014 on Mac, then RS1 and the import tool off steam. Still all good. I then buy the Space Oddity DLC (again) on steam and it says words to the effect of "This is Rocksmith DLC, Rocksmith wasn't available for Mac... ha ha!".

Does anyone know any way that I can force Steam to download the psarc (so I can convert it to an msarc) - or am I forever doomed?

All the best,

Alvin

You have to own the original Rocksmith to use the RS 1 DLC. Supposedly this was going to be fixed but it wasn't. It's a glitch with Steam that won't allow you purchase content you can't use.,,,, As far as the MAC side, I'm not sure. But ,, bummer man.

You can get the song for Mac.  I play on Mac, and I have it.  You don't need to convert it.  Just buy it and Steam will download it (it actually downloads both the PC and Mac version for any DLC you buy).

*** EDIT ***

I'm editing my comments because now that I think about it, I've remembered that you can't get RS1 for Mac.  It's Windows only.

To get around that, since when you buy games on Steam you get it for both platforms (Mac and PC) I logged into my Steam account on a PC and bought RS1, the import tool, and the RS1 DLC that I wanted.

I don't seem to have any problems buying RS1 DLC from my Mac now either.

Thanks for the responses, it's driving me nuts. I'm thinking of getting a friend with a PC to log into my steam account and do exactly what you've suggested. I thought that it would download the DLC anyway as I've a license for RS1 (even though it isn't available for Mac), but it just isn't downloading the DLC. To be fair it wasn't listed as RS 2014 DLC, but I thought it would work.

I'm not trying to pirate, I own RS and RS2014 on Xbox and Steam - and Space Oddity on both for that matter, I just can't get it onto my Mac. and I love the bass on Space Oddity!

I bought some RS1 DLCs in the Steam sale at the weekend - and I'm running on a Mac.  I had to buy RS1 first, which obviously wouldn't download onto the Mac, but I also bought the Import Tool (which is available for the Mac) and that means I have (almost) all the RS1 songs now available on RS2014...  but after that I could buy RS1 DLCs.

I don't know whether just buying RS1 on its own would be sufficient - I suspect yes.

MartynQ,

Can I check you bought RS1 DLC and it's shown up in RS14 on the mac - and not just the RS1 songs from disc?

If so I wonder whether there's an issue with my installation of RS14? Perhaps a reinstallation would do it?

I've owned RS2014 for some time now.

At the weekend, I bought RS1 via the Steam client app running on my Mac.  It allowed me to buy that game, but it doesn't download it, because it won't run on a Mac.  I then bought the Import Tool, which then did download something to my Mac and allows me to play (most of) the RS1 songs within RS2014.

I then bought a few RS1 DLCs that again did download to my Mac and I can play them inside RS2014.

So what I'm saying is that by buying RS1 and the Import Tool, I can play RS1 songs and DLCs inside RS2014.

So the answer is yes, I have got RS1 DLCs showing up in RS2014.  I definitely played through "Bring Me To Life" and "Limelight" on Sunday morning and they are both RS1 DLCs, I believe.

Hi MartynQ, thanks for the response. It's looking more-and-more that there's something up with my installation. Of course the only true test would be if you downloaded Space Oddity, but it really sounds like something odd is going on with my version of steam. Back to the drawing board!
