Int lead is fun and easy this week.  :)

Playing this one note at a time it not that hard, but it sounds wrong.  I have to learn those chords.

Here its the other way around. It does not sound that bad but the accuracy sucks. Bends over the 15th fret on the e string does not register for me. (in any song, not just this one)

@@MaZtoR I have same issue with bends at high frets  >17. Almost impossible got registered bends, tried RR with low speed - no matter, all missed.  I again checked tuning, gain cable, and intonation - all correct. So in challenge will involved the luck   :)

My score after RR:

Issue with high notes bends for all cdlc and official.

Edited by Motive

@, @@MaZtoR said that he has the issue of the bends on the high e above fret 15 not registering on all songs, not just this one.

Is it the same with you, or do you have problems with just this custom?

@@MaZtoR, I know it's not how it should be played, but have you tried to make the bend (like normal pitch, 2 step, normal pitch, 2 step, etc) while the tail shows? If you haven't tried that, can you try and see if you get a little bit better of recognition?

I have the exact same problem on all customs, so on this one I tried something different in EoF and if you watch the video I have on the thread of the custom, I managed to get a few of those never registering bends to register.

I played in SA specially to see when they registered and how I was playing in order for them to register, but it could have been just luck.

Fortunately the song was picked for the CS, and if you guys don't mind helping, all the feedback is extremely helpful to see if what I did different on the bends in EoF improved the recognition on that string/frets or not.

Thanks

Thanks @

Chatting with @ this afternoon about how long the game would lit up the tail of a sustain, in my case, I have a long sustain, while @ was having a short one.

He had the real-tone cable volume set in game at -1.2dB, which is the default, if I'm not mistaken.

My real-tone cable volume is at 7.0dB for guitar and 7.5dB for the bass. I don't have static, noise or overdrive, the sound is always clean on both instruments.

After telling this to @, he started changing the value and because his guitar has much better pickups than mine (mine are passive and his are active, not to mention his are EMG :D), he set the final value to 5.0dB and with that value he doesn't have noise, etc. and the sustain is much longer.

We thought it would be a good idea to post this, since it can happen to someone else, which in that case that someone else already knows what to try and probably fix the issue.

Wood makes the difference in sustain time. Mine Jackson is not really good for it.

Too low volume will definitely decrease the sustain time (in Rocksmith). As it will stop registering it before guitar sound fades away completely. It's overall better to have higher real-tone cable volume for all other registering issues.

What I wanted to say, sustaints can be short thanks to guitar, and you don't have to worry that something is wrong with RS if you have high cable volume gain.

@@Mortalo Im sure my  guitar have great sustain, it is Gibson LPJ - fretboard at clue (without any bolts), and without tremolo machine.

now i setted gain to 5, and insert compressor (for power supply need to use battery, or got a lot noise) between guitar and RS cable, and now have insanity long sustain without noise.

So the intermediate bass song I thought was super hard.

If fair, i do not understand the point of view - selection a hadcore song for challenge, wich impossible learn in during one week. For play random notes in solo part, who find more luck or for what ? I glad that yet not in MC, playing this type of songs it wasting time and getting bad hobbis in sound picking.

there my random score:

@ You're taking wrong approach. Some can be able to learn it during one week. Or at least some parts of the song. After all we have nothing against true guitar lords participating in the Championship. Still you have other arrangements, and it was picked because of bass.

When I'm playing songs like that, I try in parts that are not way above my skills and watch when it gets too ridiculous. And here we have long sections that are ok to play even to me :)

@@Mortalo Yes, possible it only for my hardcore, for our lords may be enough good for learning. lets look what  score there appear in the end week, and maybe interesting and motivation video playthrough.

I agree with Mortalo here. I really love Rush (and prog in general) and this song is amazing, i was completely surprised with the score, because the solo is damn hard. To master an instrument and play really good, you need patience and practice, but most of all patience. If you're not patient with your instrument, you will not go further D: And later, practice the song over and over and over again until in a blink of an eye, you mastered it! If you don't want to play Rush, ok! but we will play songs like these on the Championship, with killer solos from Metallica, Megadeth, Dream Theater and more! so i encourage you to keep going and keep practicing, this will challenge you to improve.

Lead ADV:

http://s6.postimg.org/olrqo434h/RS2014_CF_Championship_Week_81_Lead_AD_2_89.jpg

It would be nice to be able to score >90% for a third time :)..... keep in mind that I've played this arrangement more than 100 times, always getting between 85%-88%, only 2 times I got above 90%, 1 time playing in LAS and the other in SA, which I was fortunate to record and it's the video posted on the song's thread.

@, following what @@Nacholede said very well, this week's lead ADV is a very good example.

I'm no where near to be able to play the Lead ADV songs, sometimes I manage to get a score a little bit higher than 80%, but it's around that percentage or lower.

I think "The Loner" is as difficult as the other songs and like I said above, I'm pretty much managing to play the song well, I would have a much better score if the damn bends on the high e frets >17 registered.

But like I said, I played the song hundreds of times, literally.

Have you tried the lead IM @@Van-Blurten?

I usually don't get scores much higher than 90-95%, but this week with just a couple of runs I'm close to 99% (maybe, I keep missing the same damn chords  )

Question, for Beg lead what are we supposed to play?

This week we don't have Beginner Lead song. You can try rhythm. It's really rare, when we don't have lead track, but it can happen. Song needs at least one guitar arrangement, so it don't have to be lead.

I haven't tried it yet, still really busy so I haven't practised in nearly a week.

I did try this song about 3 months ago, I really sucked iirc :)

Just for those who had sustain issues, obviously wood plays a large part in it as do pickups. my old Epi LP special really is crap for that compared to my newer HB 450, which has hotter pups and is made of mahogany (neck and body), can get some real good sustain from it.

One thing that Gary Moore used to do was increase the treble to help with sustains (as well as like $2000 pups :) ), so if you happen to have an EQ pedal you could try that.
