Any word or rumblings on the next version of Rocksmith?

Curious if anyone heard anything on the next version of the game? I had heard way back that they were not planning on doing regular releases and gave the impression it could be years before we see the next game.  Anything new?

Curious what others would look for in the new game? I personally would love to see the following in a new version of the game

  1. Introduce Keyboards - the more I learn about music, the more I find keyboards are spread throughout every song. and keyboards by default have a digital midi/USB connection and would easily be able to be incorporated into the existing game.
  2. I'd like them to actually have an entire section dedicated to learning music theory and doing real musical education. I think they nailed teaching you the mechanics/technicals... but fall really short on any music education... In order to really learn guitar at some point you have to start learning the theory and the names of the notes. without this you can never really expand beyond playing the game by yourself in the basement, the musical world all speaks in terms of Key's, Notes, progressions, etc.. and Rocksmith isn't friendly to that speak.
  3. With the above, you should be able to switch to having the ability to play with notes instead of finger positions, e.g. G, D, G, C similar to chords, but show me the actual note name coming down the highway
  4. Riff Repeater needs to be improved, It  should let you set the loop points A & B and they should be settable note to note and not sections, it should be easier to pause & continue, and slow down and speed up. I still think it's 10 fold better than original, but it has a lot of room for improvement. and they absolutely still have the keys backwards on the keyboard. left goes right, right goes left... makes no sense how they arranged the keys when doing riff repeater.
  5. Lastly, I think a huge addition would be to incorporate music composition and creation and build out some songs myself, or have a suite of tools to easily make tabs in the game by maybe laying a drum track, playing some chords (which it can recognize) and then going back through and adding a solo, or additional fill tracks and stuff.. it should be able to do it all by simply recording what I play and turning that into a new CDLC, it would need some way to edit or fix notes.

Just some thoughts - would really love to see them take it to the next level.

The big problem with drum is that drum set are so different from one drummer to another that making any kind of standard setup while guitar/keyboard and many other instrument are very standard.

Looking at the fact that RS doesn't support whammy bar because they don't want the player to face impossible technique for them just because of the instrument. Drum is that 100 times.

So vocals/keyboard and other variation around string/wind instrument is way easier than any "drumsmith" if you really aim to be close to the original track and really teach the player how to play it properly.

PS : i'm all for a drumsmith thing but i just want to say that it's way harder than it might seems and i speak of experience : http://customsforge.com/topic/19654-drums-and-rs/the project is kinda stopped for now as i don't have any time to concentrate on that but i'll be happy to share any knowledge i have on the subject.

I wish to have dlc with no guitar backin track. It could be an option, to turn guitar on/off... So that you can hear really if you suck or not :D

I think Ubisoft should release a patch for it...

Even if you think they should, they won't. For many reason but mostly being that they won't have acces to stem without signing new contract and in many case that won't be possible at all and that's not Ubi's fault.

The big problem with drum is that drum set are so different from one drummer to another that making any kind of standard setup while guitar/keyboard and many other instrument are very standard.

i was thinking something like a "checklist" for each song to see if you have every drum needed to play it.

for instance, "you need 3 toms/2 crashes/2 rides to play this song". sorta like needing a capo to play some arrangements on rocksmith.

@@Humby - The problem with that is that they try to make it so that each DLC song has something for everyonwhile requiring a minimum of investment. Sure, some of the DLC require capos or heavier gauge strings, but those are things you can get for a few dollars, while extra pieces of a drumset will be much more expensive. Same reason why, although it's something I'd like to see very much as a custom creator, I doubt there will ever be support for 7 or 8 string guitars or 5 or 6 string basses (well, the basses you can sneak into the game as is).

Anyway, for something I'd like to see that wouldn't be too unreasonable... some sort of "let ring" indicator for things where you have notes ringing out over other ones. The arpeggio indicator can sort of play this role now but it doesn't really work if there's a hammer-on or other note change on a string. The current practice in official DLC seems to be with notes sustaining past each other, which I find much harder to read than it would be if we were just told to let the notes ring.

I still think they will do something more with the game before moving on to a new one. After all, there is a whole section of the shop (Expansions) with no content whatsoever. My guess is that they will bring in keyboards as some kind of expansion to RS2014 like they did with Bass to 2012. Could also add vocals via AM/FM like SIngstar used to do in order to detect whether people are singing correctly.

What I would like to see - and someone else in this thread nailed this perfectly I think - is that they move from it being just a "game" to being more than just that - a professional tool. Seeing as how a lot people learned how to play guitar from Rocksmith (myself included), it's the next logical step for them to take as a developer. We have the beginnings down to a T, but there is still room for more. Give us some sort of Guitar Pro-like tabulature development with the ability to save and share our creations with others.

And on top of that, I would like to see some expanding on the multiplayer, perhaps with a competitive online component. Maybe you can save "bands" which can consist of either local or online players and perform setlists. I can see big potential here for Twitch integration (because let's face it, streaming for this game is a bit of a nightmare at the moment)

They already stated multiple time that they won't use that expension part of the shop, they've put it in just in case at first but they clearly don't intend to use it.

Streaming is damn easy to be honest especially with the way OBS works with audio.

Proposing strumming patterns would be cool.

Don't get me started on that subject

it's sorely missed from both RS & RS2014

RS leaning's towards everyone playing like lead guitarists, is frankly odd

Things like '3 little birds' etc. strumming methods should be included in the lesson sections

and during song practice there is no excuse not to include a on screen legend of the correct strumming pattern

hopefully the new RS will break away from the standard guitar hero presentation and focus more on being a tutor

(i appreciate that  RS was pain to remain focused on compared to RS2014, but there is huge chunk of screen on the upper right that begging for the inclusion of the legend).

@@RedCrowBleeding just buy a pitch shift effect like everyone else but please let those beginners learn that tuning is the most important thing before playing...

@@firekorn

I appreciate that everyone should appreciate various tunings

After all, all guitarist have to go through their drop d phase

But on current version of RS

I've resorted to nvidia shadow play recording compressed via handbrake

To just load up and practice

I've ordered a pitch shift pedal

But for songs like IRIS a pitch shift will only get you so far

The fact that the band stops playing if you stop playing in session mode is an EPIC FUCKING FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been addressed multiple time on multiple forums and to the best of my knowledge it has never been fixed/patched.

They lost my business right there. Refuse to buy a dlc to support the software because of that reason.

Don't even get me started on the whole tuning issue.

I am honestly happy with what we have right now. Support for 7-8 string guitars and 5 string basses would be nice though. :D

I mean, the only thing I'd want out of the next Rocksmith is the support for more instruments....and yep...that's about it!
