New bands or songs to try?

I'm looking for some suggestions of different bands I should check out when it comes to custom songs. I like all sorts of rock and metal as long as there's not too much screaming going on. Also my girlfriend got me a new acoustic guitar for Christmas so could someone recommend some fun acoustic songs to learn??

    Really depends on what kind of metal you like...

    For powermetal check out Blind Guardian, Sonata Arctica and Sabaton :)
