Just got my guitar and about do download from steam, i just want to make sure i can use cdlc in RS14 before i buy. I mean are there different files for either or are they the same for both?

yes, you can use the cdlc found here in RS 14

CDLCs found here only work on RS2014, but not in the original Rocksmith. Shouldn't be a big problem though.

On the same topic, if you want to play songs from the original Rocksmith in RS14 you will need to purchase the original Rocksmith along with the disc import tool for RS14. Just a heads up.
