I have a bass tab with syncopated 8th notes and when I imported the gp5 file into EOF it ended up as standard 8th notes. Is there an option somewhere to have EOF accept these notes?

Syncope is not a status in GP so i'm not sure what are you talking about.

And it's hard to guess without the file (at least the GP file) in front of us.

Some of the more complicated notations aren't things EOF imports. Things like notes that are authored as normal 8th notes but have a shuffle rhythm modifier instead.
