  1. Reporting back. The need to run as admin was because the program did not have access to a log file in its install directory. I did a overide of the NTFS permissions of the parent folder to fix that so that I would not have to run as admin. This worked and fixed my drag & drop issue. I then started to run the program. I was not able to drag & drop 6000 files into it :) crashed. Picked a more modest like 50 files, started it up and let it do its thing. I noticed that about 8/10 of my songs actually were larger in size after the re-code instead of smaller, so that leads me to come up with my first and most important suggestion for this program. It should probably use a temporary directory to hold the encoded file and then compare the after file size and if its larger do not overwrite the original.
  2. I had some issues with Wwise missing, had to track that down, and also I had to run the program as admin to get it working (and that breaks drag & drop) but with that out of the way its working now. I load all 6000ish songs when I play in my library, looking forward to how much faster it loads after transcoding them all.
  3. I used to do a lot of live shows and live streams so I have a pretty complex setup. I read your guide and think its a good starting point, What I would like to see you add is some images and such of the setup of your client and how you configure your stream to look. A lot of people learn with images, and when your pointing out the importance of a particular layout it would be good to see it. My setup makes heavy use of a mixer and multiple sound cards so that I can input/output any sound stream as needed to hear or record. Benefit for this is I can play out loud with no headphones and the stream would hear a direct input of all the audio not a microphone recording of it. My bass is separately input from the game so I can mix those levels to the desired level. Maybe I can toss together an advanced concepts guide at some point.
  4. I still use the original Rocksmith 2014, stayed with it when the new version came out since the new one broke a lot of CDLC. Now that fixes are out, is there any good reason to update to the new version? If not I would rather probably just stick with what I have/know.
  5. I was looking at something like this for splitting incase there are ground loop issues. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BigShotABY?adpos=1t1&creative=83049425281&device=c&matchtype=b&network=g&gclid=CMON2qXyncsCFQEJaQodI7UPUw Kind of a lot of money perhaps just for a spliter, but if you need it or ever intend to use your equipment for outside just playing rocksmith its more of an investment. I ended up getting a sansamp vt bass di today because I wanted to plug into my mixer and have some control over tone. I was going to just plug my bass into my mixer (worked well for me, others maybe not so much I think my active pickups help a lot) but a proper DI will give me a clean signal and also act as a spliter so I can feed to RS unaltered and to my amp/mixer with my altered sound. Cant wait to try it out, hope that I do not find any ground loop hum when I get the setup put into place. The tricky thing is that RS only lets me have one recording device on the computer (the realtone cable) so I cant record anything on the PC from my mixer.
  6. Hey everyone, Rocksmith has really propelled me to do something I wanted to do since childhood, pick up and play a guitar. I may never get as good as if I did start young, or go play any gigs but I am still enjoying playing at home and also getting my kids into it. Now since I have not been "in the scene" I am not the best at knowing what is a good deal or not when buying a guitar/bass. My buddy got me to look around on craigslist and I found a bass that really yelled out to me the BC Rich WMD Widow. I wanted a 35" scale 5 string bass and this actually is one of the cheaper I have found and looks pretty sick to boot. I already bought it, and love it. I negotiated $500 for it, and it had just a few minor cosmetic blemishes. It did have a broken tuner (did not know this until I took off the strings) and I thought it had a stripped out strap button but it was just somebody put a screw in that was smaller than the default (probably had some after market strap locks on it and put cheap ones on when they sold it) Since I could not for the life of me find a matching grover tuner anywhere, and it has some bad neck dive I replaced all the tuners with hipshot ultralights, and I replaced the strap buttons with schaller strap lock buttons. So I am in maybe $625 or so at this point. For those in the know, was this a fair deal or did I mess up on this one?
  7. The program already pulls the data if a song has a track for guitar lead/rhythm, bass, and vocals. So that puts you 99% there, the request I have should be easy to implement. Some sort of sort/filter based on the presence of a track. Example Only show songs that have both lead and rhythm, or sort songs that have bass first and tracks that do not have bass last. The first example is more dynamic like toggle "only show songs that include" of each track type separate. But until that is implemented even a simple sort on a yes/no concept where I can sort the bass track column and it would separate songs with from songs without would help me to enable/disable the songs I want to have in the game quite greatly.
  8. I started with just a cheap guitar and rocksmith. After getting into it I now have 2 basses (ended up liking bass more) and just got my first bass amp. My question was, what sounds better, hooking the game to your normal home speakers, or hooking the game to a amp/cab. Found this thread on chance and looked at all the y splitters and aby units. Gives me an idea nobody mentioned yet. Instead of spending money on a good aby unit I can just use my Behringer mixer. I can hook the bass cab up to one of my aux sends and plug the game cable to another channel. I actually started to play the game using my mixer to one of my soundcards instead of the realtone cable, but I couldnt get my latency down low enough. Thinking about trying it again and using my onboard sound first, then just plug the realtone cable in as the second attempt, and last I can try using the mixers usb connection and let it be the soundcard itself. BTW for me the game sounds awesome on just my home speakers, I have 2x floor standing polk monitor 70's and a 12" powered sub, so playing guitar and bass both sounded really great. The main reason I think I may integrate my bass cab is so that I can hear myself better as I noticed that some songs "mask" bad play, while others let me here every little thing I do. I guess it depends on the song and what effects are in use.
  9. Yes I saw that program and was going to try it out. Looks like it will be nice to have. Still curious about the issue however, wonder if anybody else had the same behavior where things freeze. I also have a few cdlc that freeze the game up on me, but thats a different topic.
  10. Searched around a bit for this issue, did not find the answer so starting a new thread on it. I am currently going crazy downloading all the wonderful stuff here, so now the number of songs being indexed by the game is in the thousands. Seems like it has no effect on the songs (other than initial index/loading time), but I tried to play starchords earlier and it would freeze at the fake arcade bios screen. I tried many things, and ultimately the solution to fix it was to prevent the game from loading so many songs. Not sure why/how this has any effect, and wonder if it has other adverse effects too. Is there any known issues like this or any guidelines as to how many songs you should put into the game at once? Bonus: What is every bodies preferred method to control your songs loaded? I just changed the NTFS permissions on my folder so that the game can not access it. I am thinking of taking the time to break it into more than one folder and put them on a separate HDD and build a junction so that it fools the game to thinking the files are in the directory when they are not.
