Maybe I am misunderstanding how dynamic difficulty works, but I was under the impression that the first time you play the song it only shows a few notes and as you get better more notes start showing.  If that is the case then there has been many songs I have downloaded off here that are labeled as DD but in the game it is going so fast the first time I play it the only way I can reduce the amount of notes is doing it through Riff Repeater.  Am I doing something wrong or are these songs just mislabled by the author of them.

If you can go into the riff repeater, select a section or more, select a difficulty setting by moving the slider to the right or left (left to remove notes from the highway right for increased difficulty) then the song has Dynamic Difficulty.

A couple things to check. Start the game. Hit the space bar for tools. Select Difficulty Settings at the top of the list. Select SightReading Level. Make sure the Slider is not set to Max, instead to the left at Min or 1, and as you get better, to Auto, or eventually to Max if you are super optimistic.

Back out of SightReading, and select Override To Max and make sure that is NOT selected. It will start every song at Max Dynamic Difficulty.

You can check the other settings like Level Up and Level Down Speeds, changing it so it does not advance too fast as you play.

With in the song that you are trying to learn / Play Select the Riff Repeater. Use either the number pad or your mouse, select either the entire song selection, or the section you want to practice.

Lower the difficulty to where you want it to be. When you exit the repeater, the Dynamic Difficulty will start from this level.

IF it is still too fast, stay in the riff repeater and practice the song from the riff repeater, slowing the song down. If you have the Level UP or Accelerate set to on, the dynamic difficulty will increase both as the game sees or "feels" you are advancing or progressing. You can turn both of those off as well.

Ok thanks that is very helpful, I think I already did some of those things and thats how I usually do those songs is by going into riff repeater and slowing them down I just wish it would level up while im playing instead of having to do that but its not that big of an issue.  Thanks for your helo,

With in the riff repeater if you have Level Up set to ON (slider to the right) it will add notes as you progress. Same with Accelerate. It will auto increase speed as the game sees successful completions of the sections you have selected in the riff repeater.

In the main game Options, (Tools; Difficulty Settings) Level Up Speed, changing the slider to Faster will cause the difficulty to advance faster. I can not remember how many times, I believe 2 passes through a section with a perfect play will cause the increase in difficulty. Also, the inverse is true, Slower or Normal will take more times of perfect play through to add notes to the highway. Try for yourself to test, take a section and set the difficulty for that section to as low as possible and see if it advances. (it should if your game is working correctly). The same for the Level Down Speed, the lower the slider, the more mistakes the game will allow you to make before removing notes, Faster will penalize you faster and demote you with fewer mistakes.
