Locked CDLC thinks my game is pirated

Question

Posted

Just bought it on Steam and got it running... Tried using "Previous Build" using password "JustInCaseWeNeedIt" as one thread suggested and it wont download(update) that game. I do have it installed on another drive other than C if that matters. I tried dowloading the D3X9_42.dll and plopping into RS2014 root directory which would not allow game to start. Kind of running out of ideas here.

its just cause the exe is different, they're working to repair the cdlc unlocker and dll at this time, it should be somewhat easy to fix, just takes time as we only got access to the game just now.

You are just going to have to be patient. The people who make the patch and enabler are unpaid volunteers who lead normal everyday busy lives like most everyone else. Please bear this in mind. We all are aware that people (new people and returning people alike) are eager and chomping at the bit to use some cdlcs.

The amount of time is not predetermined. It will be ready when it is ready.

Maybe you  know when  they repair CDLC?

i wonder if its the same for RS Asio i need to test this...

RS Asio has an issue where it doesn't recognize the game version now. Very likely that it needs to be updated for the new exe version too.

Same, new patch still doesn't work and says my copy is pirated (it is definitely not pirated but it's also not on C drive). I also have old Rocksmith (2011) installed because of the DLC that didn't carry over with disk import, don't know if that might affect anything. Keeping an eye out if you find a fix for this.

Edit: I tried moving the game temporarily to C drive, but it didn't work (even after the patch asked me to manually search for the install folder). Going to try uninstalling and reinstalling, though that didn't work for previous poster.

(That didn't work either)

I fixed it! I cleared my browser cache and redownloaded the 3.5 installer and it worked. I don't know why but apparently it was firefox's fault... at least on my end.

Great, I was able to use it also. Either it got updated again on the back end or my last PC reboot must have cleared the cache (on chrome for me).

Well I'd like to share my experience:

I've installed Rocksmith in another partition, not in C, and I was having trouble trying to patch it with CDLC 3.5 because it kept saying my copy was not legit. So I moved my installation folder to C and was able to patch it, BUT, for some other reason my game started crashing when I tried running it, so I just reinstaled the game, this time on C and patched it again and now everything's working just fine.

If you have the new version that was just put on Steam you need the latest CDLC patcher that we have available. Make sure you have a fresh install of the game and you may need to clear your browser's download cache as it will try and use the old one if you downloaded it before.

I think this patch was to stop a lot of previous ways to get in. They removed cherub rock from the store and the beta code for reverting to the previous patch so should be interesting to see how long it will take to get in the Uplay is still broken it seems.

Why is cdlc only available under license? When the game was not available in steam I downloaded a non-licensed version and there was a working cdlc the meaning of this protection if pirates can bypass it and on the expanses of the Internet there are non-licensed versions with the ability to add custom dlc. What is the point of this protection?

Way for this place not get sued. Sure pirates can modify dll files but thats on them and not CustomsForge.

My bet is that it's about a slight moral difference - "we do not promote piracy: buy the game and buy ODLCs and we only provide you with CDLCs that cannot be bought". However, from the law's perspective CDLC distribution is illegal all the same as redistributing ODLCs: the argument "I distributed CDLC because there was no ODLC" would not fly in the court. So if you're looking from that latter perspective, then "why bother with piracy checks since CDLCs are anyway illegal" is a perfectly valid point 🥲

If you can't wait until an official support for "Learn and Play" is implemented in RSMods, then you can easily verify it yourself: download Visual Studio Community Edition (legal for personal use), install destkop C# and C++ development, download the RSMods source code from github (you don't even need an account for it), open it in Visual Studio, look for the

IsVoid()

method call, comment it out with `//`, select the Release configuration, recompile (CTRL+SHIFT+B) and enjoy the RSMods without the piracy check (run the exe from the build folder).

That said, I am pretty certain that going past the piracy check won't be enough - as others already mentioned, the exe files differ, so in order for the mods to work, they'd most likely need to be hooked differently (meaning that the support for this new game requires more than fixing the `IsVoid()` method to cover both versions of the game). You can follow the progress here.

I did not own the original RS2014 and I did not use the mods on the alternative version - I checked the source code out of curiosity. Recently I bought the PS4 disc version and I've also bought the new Learn and Play version (I wish they released it a bit earlier - I wouldn't have bothered with the PS4 version).

I don't even now what Ubisoft would complain about, you have a community for your game that is making something that would make more people buy it.
Ye sure they would like you to buy RS+, but ain't anybody paying 20 freaking euro per month or 85 per year to access some shabby shitty song list that is not even permanent and you won't be able to play after.
Specially cos if you don't pay that premium you can just play like 4 shit songs.

RS2014 is almost the equivalent of going to the shop and paying for a song book, or having guitar pro and browsing tabs in places, RS+ just sounds like a shit money grab with the subscription model.

And of course they can not leave things as they are, they have to come and mess up RS2014 cos otherwise no one would use RS+.

Mine is still saying it's pirated... Bought it fair and square. I just tried reinstalling the game but no luck. Does having it installed on a different drive separate from windows matter?
