Its likely cheaper to buy it on guitar pro's own website,  its 69.99 on amazon for me and 49.99 on guitar pro's website for me.  This may depend on region.

I would highly suggest going the free route and using TuxGuitar.  It uses GP5 file format which is what EOF uses to import GP files into EOF.  Theres 2 versions of Tux Guitar out there,  sourceforge and a new repo on github.

I tried that one and when I tried to pay my card would not allow me to make an overseas purchase they are located in France. After some research I found out the ones from amazon are the same as ultimate guitar's version and are made by the same folks and allow all access to everthing for both. I went ahead and bought the one from amazon, Im gonna try the code in the 5 version and see if it works. All the guides I'v seen all use guitar pro 5 so I guess it's the prefered version.

So GP5  the .gp5 format  is just a format.  So GP8 GP7 GP5,  Tuxguitar, etc  all use and can create files in the gp5 format.  When you save a file or export a file you just choose gp5 as the format.  Editor on Fire the program we use, is able to read the GP5 format to import.
