Rocksmith 2014 Championship Week 498

Recommended Posts

Okay this week I finally got myself to do scoring runs on Friday so I won't miss out on posting scores for the first time in a few weeks. I had major issues with note recognition on the custom tuning beginner song and I couldn't be bothered so I played it once on Monday and then once today for a score and spent all my other time on the intermediate song since I felt like that would progress me further overall. It was a last moment decision to try it in score attack but I'm very happy I did because I got a score I'm proud of.

Yuup. We did, nobody complained and now its us again reverting what we did. Ain´t life strange.

I agree totally with you that Bass Diff scores 1-4 are good for beginner class, and in the range of 3.5 - 4 the adventure really begins. However the point to focus on is where do we want to set the bar for the level-up. We have 99.5% + to be reached for bass-classes to level to the next Class. There is - because low participations in lower bass classes, and players rather quickly reach the adv class - low evidence but personally i slightly tend to have the uplevel Beg-Int bass at (3) cause that would augment Int class a little by making it a bit wider with a lil longer competition there for the players before the rather big difficulty leap to adv. But i am very ok with (4) also. @ Mikson what do you think?

@ lowender @ luckyoldme @ rodentwentyten @ BubbleWrapDragon @ bobbyvenice - you have been battling that line lately - what do you think?

@ Rodman

I actually went back and played almost every song rated 1, 2, and 3 in January and February just to get back into playing Bass. 1s and 2s were both very easy but 3s tended to be very hit or miss. Some were fun and easy and others I just quit back to menu because it felt like there was no way it was going to happen. That could be because some of them utilize techniques or patterns I haven't practiced at all. I think if I went through it again now I wouldn't feel that way.

4s most definitely cross that line where I appreciate the complexity and it's more fun to play but I have to buckle down. I'm in the process of working through all the past 4s from old championship weeks but that's going a lot slower since I tend to be more focused on the current week's songs so I only do that if I have extra free time.

Whenever the week's songs are more difficult I try to just see it as a challenge and rise to the occasion. I won't lie though there have been definite moments of frustration in there when I just stopped playing because I didn't feel like I could do it. That being said I'm seeing real improvement and I feel like my score on Two Tickets to Paradise this week is proof of that. I was just flailing away on the fretboard the first time I played it and I think I got somewhere in the 60s or 70s on accuracy. Anyway I don't have any solutions or ideas I just wanted to give some input on my experience.

Breaking benjamin!! listened to them so much back in the days..probably was one of the bands that made me get into post metalcore/heavier music, really love the vocal performances to his songs.
Personally wasnt too much a fan of this album( imo the weakest one of the bunch but thats cause i loved the others) this song was alright just a bit too slow for me and not much going on. Still a solid cdlc and decent for beginners and glad to play it.

this one was nice. not sure if it seemed harder than the ones below because i had a capo+drop pedal (too lazy to tune) and had to do the math of plus one in my head or if it actually was harder.

i think this one could be in a lower class. lots of singles and mostly one string.

this one i think could also pass as int.

i think this one could be lower class aswell. Which is surprising cause i always imagined rush having hard basslines...then again ive never heard most of rushs catalogue heh.

Pretty fun song. Seemed like a easier version of the one that comes with the game...round and round? Also begining reminded me of a simpler bark at the moon by ozzy or looks that kill by motley crue..or panama vanhalen...or alot of songs from the 80s lol. then the chorus reminded me of a metallica song.. i think its seek and destroy but i personally never got into metallica that much so it could be another one of theirs.

@ cacahuate51  One of the unwritten rules we've followed here is that we rate a part based on the hardest section in the song...so both Tell the World and A Farewell to Kings are mostly Int-level but have Adv-level sections, whereas Two Tickets to Paradise doesn't have any Adv-level sections IMO but the whole thing is nonstop high Int-level and the cumulative effect of sustaining that could arguably make it more challenging than the other two.

BTW the vast majority of Rush/Geddy Lee CDLC are more challenging than this one.

@ cacahuate51  I think we can agree that 'Phobia' is the best. While that previous album is also good, I especially like 'So Cold' from there, which has official DLC.

Lower class improvements because I didn't like my first scores 🙂

I tried Dystopia but there's really something wrong with this CDLC and I was getting a lot of misses on empty strings so I turned it off.
