Is it possible to play custom songs on Rocksmith 2014 version?

Is it possible to play custom songs on Rocksmith 2014 version?  I have an opportunity to get dvd version of Rs2014 with cable but its not remastered version and so long as i have seen these guides how to unlock custom songs its always remastered version from steam +cherub rock. So is it possible or not? And if it is ,what should i do?

Oh yes. It is pc/mac version.

Need to know what platform. PC/Mac, yes you can play customs on. Consoles no (Playstation, Xbox).

It should automatically update to remastered after installing then updating.

All version of the game uses steam and will be updated to the remastered so you'll necessary have the right version if you own the game.
